I used to get these for 20-30 secs. I put another fan pointing at my vid card and it stopped.

Well, mine seemed to have stopped with the Riva tweak.

As for a fan, one broke on my 6800, so its being replaced tomorrow. Maybe I will remove the Riva tweak to see if 2 properly working fans on the vid card make a difference.

Either way, happy camper here.

Man that completely enrages me! I used to HAVE a 9800 XT but i sold it for 300 and bought this x800.

I installed beta ATI drivers 8.07 i believe which had a fix for the 256 meg card problem but i saw zero difference in performance. I was going to install the Omega Drivers but i didnt' wanna screw with removing the ATI Controller center.
If your x800 is a pro and a vivo model, you can do the soft mod to make it an x800xt

Its a true XT but thanks for the help all the same. Any time you can get a genuinely helpful hint out this community its a damn miracle :D (Hint, General Discussion is like a digital hell of sorts)

*cough*ATI Catalyst Control Center sucks*cough*

I've been recommended to install Omega 8.10 drivers, I found all releases except that release. Could you provide a link to the newest stable Omega Driver set, preferablely with the 256 meg card memory allocation bug fix :)

These are the ones that include the 256MB fix...

http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.php

They also allow you to change the AI settings WITHOUT using the CCC. Make sure you change the AI setting to High.

Ok thanks much :bigthumb: I'll install these tomorrow (I'm seeding a huge file on bittorrent for TW and so far I'm the only seed, so I can't install anything that'd require a reset.

The only impact installing those beta Cat drivers was blue screen of death on Windows XP Pro, and a Green Screen of Death. No change for FPS in games either. But the 256 meg bug could very well be causing poor FPS in T:V and perhaps Joint Ops but the last one sounds like everyone has problems with it.

That is in the guide, right now I say to set it to the same as whatever you set UseVSync to. Do you have UseVSync=True? If not I may have to put in the guide to enable UseTripleBuffering=True no matter what.

Ok this is ri-goddamn-diculous. I cleaned out all the old drivers, and installed these new Omega Drivers. I set EVERYTHING to low/off with fogging on High and It still dips down into 25 fps and on occasion teens. Is there some setting for the card its self in the advanced graphics tabs? I even have super high detail and high detail actors turned to FALSE and the FPS on Arid is still crappy. I couldn't believe how little difference setting all the details to low/off made.

2.4 P4 400 FSB
Asus AGP x800 XT 256 Meg
1 gig of RDRAM
Audigy 2 Plat.

Same system, same crappy FPS. Tried lots of tweaks and such, no effect in T:V.

Nice list so far :bigthumb:

I still wonder if my machine isn't beefy enough to run on low/medium settings. I get huge dips in FPS in fire fights. Might be ATI related

Lets face it, VUG needs to release a performance patch....

I have a 6800 Ultra and I was having the stuttering issue too. Not sure if this fixed it though.

What did you do to fix it? Compatibality check, or BLIT settings?

bora

I don't get it... when AGP Fastwrites are enabled, it get horrid stuttering. When they are off, its better. I still get a lockup every so often.

DFI Lan UT nf3 250gb (latest drivers installed and bios)
AMD64 3000
1gig memory Corsair
BFG 6800 (68.11)
Audigy 2

I've tried the Riva tweaks, but they don't solve it. Enabling the BLIT kills FPS. Besides, I've read the BLIT issue was resolved in the 68.11

Any other suggestions?

I ran fine on this board just the other week before upgrading:
Soyo Dragon+
AMD XP1800
same memory
same video card
NO LOCKUPS
