.

Anyway, T:V has been dumbed down to elementary level so I'm glad to hear that you can at least play and enjoy this game. Obviously throwing out a flare while flying/running, or destroying a carrier full of invading heavies with a Plasma gun exceeds your level of skill, or even knowledge.

too true

I choose not to address ur whole post cause it was as subjective as this 1st section.Right back at you.

On the other hand, you might just learn something if I did address it all.

1. A skilled shrike pilot is going to run you over at least 4 times before you can chaingun him down.
2. A T2 Tank takes more mortars to kill than any infantry, it happens to shoot mortars, therefore a tank driver combating two heavies with equal skill is pretty much always going to win unless they use missile launchers.
3. You still have to time EVERY weapon in the game, the difference for the missile launcher is you don't even have to aim.

The Flare/Missile Launcher "balance" and every other rock/paper/scissors implement to Tribes 2 like it, detracted from necessary skill and took away from the equality of different playstyles that really makes up a Tribes game.

All of your references to my percieved skill, as well as your emphasis on the amount of time having been registered in Tribal War, can only be characterized as sick.
But just to help you overcome whatever disease you elitists are infected with, I'll go ahead and tell you that I played Tribes 2 for several years. I don't own T1, but I've played it.
I didn't join Tribal War then because I thought half of the people in it were definitely egocentric morons.

T:V has stuff wrong with it, but if it had been built on T2 it would be infinitely worse off; every old exploit and balance problem would be brought back and this entire forum would either be empty or engulfed in flames between devout T2 advocates and everyone else.

Oh wait.

...have in T2 since I have destroyed both strike and pilot with nothing more than a chaingun.
...and killed up to two strikes that had me isolated midfield both concentrating their guns on me.

...it is very hard for a HA to down a strike with a missile unless the pilot is just unskilled and stalls, or the shooter is skilled and knows when to fire relative to the strikes position.

Wtf is a "strike" in the Tribes Universe?

As I said, you apparently have little skill and require gimmicks like frictionless ski, shoot-die-shoot-die gameplay, and soft vehicles.
Strifes run over alot of players, but thats part of the game. I dislike players like yourself who use vehicles this way. It gives me even more satisfaction destroying it and killing you as you fall to the ground. Course, you spawn again, get another vehicle and I do it all over again.
Balance.

Two heavies against a tank win cause of the missile launcher. Not to use it is...dumb. Still it isn't as easy as you say if the tank pilot has any skill.
It is often diificult to get a lock on tanks/strifes with missile lock until they have done lots of damage by running over or mortaring a few LT noobies like yourself..
Yes they can roll you over, and a strife can hit and kill you, IF you lack skill of avoidance. Sounds like ya'll must met this critria and die alot due to T2 vehicles.

While trying to get a lock PLUS moving to avoid being run over makes the heat missile use not so easy as point and spam like T:V. This pretty much balances T2 weapons (missiles) against vehicles like the tank or strife. The strife can outrun a missile , and they do, so its not fire&forget as you weakly suggest.
2 Heavies will destroy it using whatever, but a few bystanders (YOU & the other panty heads) may be victims. I wouldn't think that was too fun either, so I'd probably go back to T1 or T:V where the water is more shallow.
Botton line: Deep water is for swimmers, the kiddie pool is for those less skilled. ;)

The trolls in TT are worse than the ones in GD if you ask me. Atleast the GD trolls sound halfway intelligent.

Don't confuse sounding intelligent with ACTING intelligent.
As you demonstrate, they are unique and unassociated atributes

They make sounds too, in GD? Scary.

If you're going to cry intelligence then at least take the time to correct your own mistakes or, really, all you're going to do is mock yourself.

I think it just strikes most of us who are "whining" about the chat and the inventory as "odd" why you would change those two particular things. They worked well in T2 so why would anybody be inspired to change them.

Second, look at all the options available in T2 that added game depth, ie packs, turrets, deployable sensors, mines, different types of grenades.

Polaris has about the best post in here.

My response, What I was expecting was a more refined T2, better graphics, more complete gui, more than 4 vehicles, lots of deployables, 20 or so very good maps, and of course solid lockdown on cheats.

I think they went the wrong direction, Tribes did not need reinventing, but apparently, 4 years of playing it doesn't give me any clue about the game.

I mean can u imagine if you told the UT crowd that, "Hey, this aint your Mom's UT, were totally changing the face of this game." You'd would be hearing it.

I'm amazed you still come back sayingnoobies like youandNot to use [the missile launcher] is...dumb.at the same time. The missile launcher takes no skill to use in comparison with anything else in tribes besides automated turrets. The problem this caused in Tribes 2 is that players who were skilled would still be at the mercy of a weapon which is useful, even necessary, despite not requiring experience.

It makes certain playstyles stronger than others, sometimes even useless.

Someone sneaking into a base cloaked and SLing anyone at an inv or walking in a straight line is all but impossible to avoid in T2 unless the defense deploys sensors, if they do then the cloaker is completely screwed. The result of this kind of rock/paper/scissors balance is stalemate.

Irrational has removed this destructive flaw from vengeance, any argument stating otherwise that I've seen doesn't understand how this form of balance is a problem or doesn't know what the tribes series is about.

They've removed it and replaced it with spam-oriented projectiles. Projectiles that create exaggerated damage radius and kill any sense of perception you might of once needed. But no, not anymore, don't need any perception, just shoot and spam, you already know you'll get that one desperately deserved point.

well prices are coming down, and it hasent been put on the shelves yet here, in euroland, i just guess the shops brought a load of them and seeing what there seeing they just want to off load them asap. it was 39.99 3 weeks ago went down to 36.99 then they just changed the price too 27.50 lol virgin have now offered free delivery £28 and as the sales assistant of game said today it could just drop too 19.99 middle of next month.

and my 2 cents is that the devs have packed there bags and gone to sort out the other many new games they have released this month.
