2. you have 3ghz, thanks for proving my point :)
how do I enable fps counter, I'll take a shot or a couple on an athlon 1800 xp if you want
KnightMare 10-17-2004, 10:30 PM -console in shortcut, hit tab ingame then stat fps

It is the spot, just looking off into the horizon cause looking at the floor isn't as graphically intesnsive. Two things I noticed about your screenshot that are definitely NOT helping your situation. You have your FOV set to >90 and your draw distance set to ultra-high. Sacraficing frames for FOV and draw distance is pretty stupid in my opinion.
I never argued that a 3GHz doesn't make the game run faster. I'm just saying that if you think you're getting crappy frames compared to other people with similar set ups, it's most likely a BIOS/windows/driver problem, NOT a problem with the game itself.
Next time you go looking for help, and people give you advice, try not to be such a dick.

 do you even read what you type?

Read it jerk. It makes total sense.
mc-fine 10-17-2004, 10:41 PM Showing the lowest point of your fps is hardly evidence that you need a 3 ghz CPU to run the game. I can look up at the sky and say the game runs at 125 fps. Whoa now you only need a 2 Ghz CPU to run the game at 125 fps. It proves nothing.
Thats the reason IG needs to release a benchmark. That way we can be done with the "I have a p2 450 and voodoo 3 and the game runs smooth" and "The performance is crap I get 35 fps in some place. IG needs to fix the engine".

Exactly. Most people don't seem to have any performance issues with T:V, so blaming the engine is just ignorant. A game like Halo PC on the other hand, has got consistantly poor performance even on high end machines, so claims like this would be valid.
Ignorant people who can't get games running straight out of the box and automatically blaim the programmers cause it's impossible that there's anything wrong with their rig just piss me off.
KnightMare 10-17-2004, 10:47 PM Im going to try explain this as simple as possible.
During a match you shouldnt have to worry about looking in a specific direction will killing your fps.
And FantasticDamage is ignored.

RunningWolf 10-17-2004, 10:49 PM The thing is fantastic is every other game I own runs flawless. So if you are telling me its my drivers/bios/windows set up is borked. then why do i get 60fps constantly with ultra extreme quality in doom3. Or that I never have problems with FarCry. I do know what Im talking about. The last time I remember having problems with a game like this was when t2 was released. Like I've said in numorous threads before this is an ISSUE that the dev's need to look at and Im sure others can agree.

As soon as my buddy with the 6800GT logs on I'll get him to send me a screenshot of his frames. I'll also find out what drivers he's using. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, I just wanna show you that not everybody with a 6800GT gets poor performance.
I'm not saying it's impossible that there is indeed an issue with the game, I'm just saying that because it's based on the Unreal Engine I find it highly unlikely. Not to mention nVidia is known to optimize their drivers for specific games (as is ATi, I don't want to start that up), so it is possible that nVidia's unoptimized drivers are to blaim.
RunningWolf 10-17-2004, 10:58 PM yea that could be, I am using th 65.73 drivers due to them being the overall best for IQ. Running t:v high quality(doesnt matter if I use hp,performance,or quality), 4xaa,4xaf.
I've tried various other drivers for t:v except the 61.77 thats the only thing I haven't tried yet.
FantasticDamage 10-17-2004, 11:06 PM Even give the Omega drivers a shot, I never use them but I know people who swear by them.
What processor, motherboard, and RAM are you using RunningWolf? Is it possible these are holding you back?

Seriously man... without a benchmark its really not worth anyones time to guess wether you know what you are talking about or if you are as clueless as most the ppl in this thread.
Get Fraps. Open up a simple map like MP-Fort and make a couple of flag grabs. Comeback with specs and benchmark results. Otherwise its baseless claims.
RunningWolf 10-17-2004, 11:10 PM using xp 3000 (11.5x210=2.36)
a7nx8deluxe rev 2.0 (using the latest 1008 bios, uberized by reddwarf)
1 gig corsair cmx512-3200ll(11,3,2,2*tried default timings to make sure these are the best for nforce2 boards)
420 power supply
so i dunno my comp is pretty beastly.
btw my temps are socket=35,diode=40,case=2 0
my 6800gt never goes above 65c. running at 400x1100 and ive had them on default settings also.
dudeman 10-17-2004, 11:15 PM well i tested mine under a variety of condtions... most interesting thing is that I can turn on aa and af without much, if any, noticeable hit. I get between 30-50 fps... 30 out romping among the architecture of utopia, higher in more view limited spots.. it also need be said that it's very smooth, I don't notice any sluggishness, lag type symptoms ever (nor in my playing of the sp and tons and tons of mp), it stays like liquid... that's not unusual for unreal engine, but I'm just saying, in terms of graphics it should just fly and not give anyone much of a hard time
specs - athlon 1800 xp, 1 gig ram (something weird actually like 800 or 900 I forget), 9500 pro o/c (which I can overclock very high with this game, but it doesnt make much of a difference, it's pretty much just as fast to begin with) 60 gig hdd with a gig free space (hehe, yes I'm a sloppy hdd owner)
if you want the caps let me know and ill imageshack them or something, but right now I've been put "in the mood" ;) gotta go play some t:V

Yah, you should be getting great fps on that thing. My buddy with the 6800GT is running a A64 3000+ or 3200+, can't remember which, but a AXP 3000+ shouldn't hold your video card back that much.
RunningWolf 10-17-2004, 11:20 PM Yea i will download fraps tomorrow and see also try the 61.77 drivers untill then im zz.
WerTicus 10-17-2004, 11:46 PM im 100% certain you need more than 256mb of ram on your video card to run it in ultra ultra ultra mode. The frame rate spike are more textures loading across the bus. If you drop the texture detail down to high it hardly looks bad and the spikes go away then its just 80fps all the time no spikes on my x800 (cept when the map is first loading)
mc-fine 10-18-2004, 12:06 AM T:V engine.. fastest evar! Even with 2 ghz CPU and 2nd gen mid range Radeon 9600 pro.

who cares if the scene is not complex? Its obvious proof.
