[T:V] Poor performance?

Has anyone else noticed a large decrease in performance from a few versions back? In the open beta, I was running real smooth, but now I'm not at all. Even on the same maps as those in the beta/demo, I am lucky to get 30 fps. At times I drop to 10-15. With my system, that just isn't right. I've even tried dropping draw distance and quality settings in my drivers with NO performance gain.

Specs:
ASUS K8N-E Deluxe (nForce3 250Gb)
AMD64 3000+
1024 MB PC2100 ram
ATi 9800 Pro (latest drivers - 10/14)
SB Audigy 1
Windows XP w/ SP 2

I can't imagine that on the lowest of low settings (even with 16 bit sound), I could only manage 10-15 fps in some cases. Plus the fact that reducing settings has NO impact on performance. Where's the bottleneck? I can't imagine that it would be hardware related.

Anyone else having similar issues?

Better RAM, you aren't doing your CPU justice...

I only get bad performance during the beginning of the map, everything studders around mortars, pod rockets, and other loud noises until about one minute in. Everything is about on par with the previous versions after that.

well, for reference I have an athlon xp 1800, gig of ram, and 9500 pro overclock, and the game runs insanely well... it's unreal engine, it's always fast... if there's slowdown something is screwy, but not your hardware... i have zero slowdown ever in this game

I never go below 35fps (60 avg) at 800x600 resolution with everything on HIGH.

P4 2.4Ghtz
Radeon 9500 Pro
512mb OCZ Platinum 3200 (2-3-2-5 1T)

The trick? The OMEGA 2.5.90 catalyst drivers (http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.php), and changing the following settings:

CacheSizeMegs=64
MinDesiredFramerate= 75
ReduceMouseLag=False
HighDetailActors=False
SuperHighDetailActors=Fal se
SkeletalLODLevel=Low
UseTrilinear=True
UseTripleBuffering=False
LevelOfAnisotropy=1

I have:
Abit NF7-S
xp2100+ @ 2.3ghz
1gb pc3200 Corsair XMS
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (OCed a little)

I can play @ 1280x1024 with medium to high details just fine...

There has been several people saying that their performance dropped a lot from beta/demo to retail. I've not seen any pattern to it, except they all have ATI cards, but then the next post is someone else with an ATI saying it works fine.

:shrug: I've seen enough of these posts to believe something is up, but dunno what.

One thing.. you mentioned lowering the settings for your video card, but have you adjusted the T:V settings?

When I first installed retail my performance was pretty bad, then I remembered that I didn't lower some of the visual settings like I had for the demo. All fixed, and honestly I can't see any visual quality loss.

shadows are a common culprit, try medium if you have them any higher, other that that I dunno runs just like unreal for me, very fast, and I have everything else but shadows on high, fogging at ultra

when you lag for a while into the game, isnt that the game caching the textures? i have the same problem, and after a little bit i run fairly smooth.

I have everything on lowest/off except draw distance which is all the way up. It doesn't see to make a bit of a difference if I turn down the draw distance though. Can faster ram really make that much of a difference?

I wouldn't think the difference between 2100 and 3200 would drop your fps from 60 to 25.

Have you checked your AGP SMARTGART settings? (Sometimes when you install a new driver, you have to retest your AGP card and reboot the system, else it limits the trasfer speed to AGP 1x, i think). What is your AGP apature set to in your bios? With 1024mb of ram, a good setting is about 128mb.

I have the same problem hobbiticus, and I believe a lot of people do too. My framerate is fine indoors/when no one is around, but when I get near some action it goes down into the red.

P4 2.4 Ghz
1gb DDR ram
9800XT 256mb
Winxp SP2

I also experience the same slowdown regardless of the settings I choose. In other games I get great performance (Doom 3 etc) but in T:V (and UT2K4) its like i'm limited to 30 fps around other people.
