Help please, can't update Tribes 2. Can't find the patch.

This is really bugging me. The same problem occurs with Counterstrike.

When attempting to log on, I'm told that my version 25034 is out of date. But the stupid thing says there is no new update available.

What's up with that? The new update should be easy to find for the auto-updater. And if not that, then it should be a breeze to log on to Sierra or a hundred other sites and simply find the patch or update or whatever the hell it's called.

Can someone please clue me in. I have searched for nearly an hour on the net and can't find a single file or patch to make my Tribes 2 'up to date' so I can play the dern game.

What is this user doing wrong? I finally got back on the internet after weeks of no access and I can't play three of my favorite games. This same problem occurs with other Sierra games. What's the deal with Sierra? Shouldn't their frikin games update themselves? I just don't get it.

add -online to a shortcut of the t2 exe

Thanks for responding, but it's already there.

The error is in a window saying 'version check failed'.

The message reads: 'Your version (0.25034.0.0) of Tribes 2 is out of date, but there are no updates to update Tribes 2 to the latest version.'

At first I thought Sierra had cancelled the game or something, maybe to force us to buy T:V, but that didn't make much sense.

I really don't get it. Is the current version still 25034? Does anyone know? Has there been a patch or update I don't know about? I mean 25034 has been the version since 2001 or something. Why would the game suddenly not be able to log on? Any help would be appreciated from those of you still playing T2. I want to play dammit.

Please chime in and come to my rescue if you know how to fix this.

Target of shortcut should be like so.. to tribes2 exe and not the stupid sierra updater.

C:\Games\Tribes2\GameData \Tribes2.exe -online

This will bypass the auto updater. Or you can just use the classic mod shortcuts to start the game.

Or, if you use DT,
C:\yourpathhere\Tribes2\G ameData\dt.exe -online

Using the Classic mod shortcuts will use a different set of prefs files then you've been using, so that's probably not the best option.

Modified it per instructions, but still nothing. Sierra needs to iron this out. I get the same thing with CS and Team Fortress-yes I still play this antique. I've never once had Sierra's Auto-Updaters function properly. Buggy stuff.

Well thanks for the responses. Even thought they didn't work dammit! ;)
