Dark|Fate 10-16-2004, 04:34 PM because they allow themselves to be killed by the tactic rather than grow a brain and a pair and respond... note the most whining you'll see about this game is from people who have played the least and immediately weigh in, that's useless feedback
I've been playing pretty much non-stop since open beta. I've been playing Tribes since Jan 99. I guess it just makes sense to some people that carrying a turret should weigh you down. I'm sorry if you dont agree with my opinion, but im sick of people like you who write off every opinion simply because you dont agree with it.
That being said, I agree, having a turret mid field limits what you have to deploy at the base.
Forgive me if im wrong, but in T1 and T2 you could damage a turret so that it would not fire, but would not distory either. I say bring this method back for T:V. Allow defenders to make a turret compleatly useless if someone wants to place it on their side of the map. The problem as i see it now, is that after i destroy the turret, that just makes it possible for the player to grab another one on his way out of the base again, meaning that for every time that heavy comes to my end of the map, i have to kill 2 players instead of one.
BitRaiser 10-16-2004, 04:59 PM No one's even mentioned the biggest problem with dumb folks trying to o-turret!
That being, them getting killed and handing the turret over to the enemy.
Last night I played a few rounds where someone was constantly trying to o-turret against us. I picked up on this and started killing him before he could place the thing then stealing his turret and setting it up defensivly. Perty soon we had a monster turret defense while their side was virtually undefended.
Senty 10-16-2004, 05:10 PM oh shazbot, didn't know that
Will have to try it next game.

sounds like a good way to get into tk wars and kicked
my best advice is be adaptable on pub servers... yea we all know an extremely concentrated nest can be a good thing (although other times its wiped out with a few mortars) but it's about as lame as killing someone for using a vehicle you want to use, it's first come first serve on pub, besides this shows you how to play many roles, if the d is too messed up instead of wasting my time wrecking the whole thing I go o and steal the enemies flag... then I keep an eye on when the deployables are spawning again so I can set them up right... I do sometimes blow up totally worthless placements though... like if someone puts a ton of stuff in an inside area not guarding anything worthwhile

I think you should read more before posting. He was killing the other teams player and taking his turret. Then using it for his defense. If this happened more than twice, the guy was a dope.
I like it as is, its only annoying on some maps. Isle for instance you can HO and take a turret, and be there in about 20 seconds. Over and over. But then your #2 base is unprotected, and easy to rape. Its a trade off. With flags and such so high on some maps, it would be very hard to place turrets/invs near them if they were heavy.
sc4r4b 10-16-2004, 06:06 PM The turrets are fine... they don't need to be nurfed or buffed.

Let's put it this way... we had a firggen TON of turrets, while they only had about 2.
To be extra dirty/nasty, I was setting up the captured turrets near Repairors and/or in hard to spot locations to make sure they didn't get wasted and return to the enemies deployment lockers.
Ok... so I was exploting the stupidity of one player and using it against his whole team, but I really wanted to see how big an issue this sorta thing could become.
Asura 10-16-2004, 09:29 PM look, i have just given up on pub play, and started looking to PUs and other things for real enjoyable gameplay. TK fests, O-turreting, crappy turret placement (read: against the OOB grid as far to the south as you can go), easily raped bases, ...etc. now, i dont have a problem with some of this stuff normally. however, when it happens in EVERY game in EVERY server, its gets old, and fast. i can stand getting powerraped, and oturreted by someone who knows what they are doing, because its FUN for whatever reason. speaking of which, anyone up for a PU on monday?
