Anyone else slightly disappointed in T:V?

I am a T1/T2 vet from day one from both lauches. And if you ask me, im a bit disimpoinited in t3. Sure, the graphics and sound is better.
I have only played the demo so i dont know about the retail.

From what I have seen im not to impressed. Maps are to small, and to simple. The new pack system blows. Heavies being able to run as fast as a light is BS. Gernade laucher/mortar are basicly like dum fire missles, they have no lobbing effect untill they reach a far distance. The rocket laucher or whatever you call it is totaly useless. The ONLY real purpose it has is takeing down the bombers. They are to slow/inaccurate/far spreed/longdistance to take down fighters/heavies. The bucklers sheild is only really effective VS chain gun/ blaster fire. Prevides no help VS anything spash DMG (which is basicly everything.) I have used the it for about 4 hours straight, and i have to say. The only postive is that it doesnt run out of ammo. The damage is minamal for how long it takes to refire. And if the disks goes out of sight, you lose it for like 6 seconds. Even thought it goes on a little hill or behind a tree. And the abilty to "push" away the foe only comes in handing once on a blue moon.

I dont see why they trashed all the T2 vechials, that made me real depressed. I totaly hate the figher. Rapid fire, infinity ammo??? give me a freaking break. 4 rockets = death to light. Seem fair? No. The bomber is pretty cool, even though the fighters can nail it outa the sky in not even 15 seconds. The gunners are way to easyer to get shot out of. Its runs like a boat with a 2 inch wooden rudder. And it doesnt even really "bomb" its like a missle that shots infront of you, even though u cant really judge where its gonna hit. The rover?? Omg, dont get my started. Infinity after burner? Infinty ammo? I must of gotten that think going 3000 MPH on the Isle map. Not to mention it turns on a dime at that speed.

There are some improvements though. I love the repair pack. Turrets are no longer #1 defense. Although they have simplfied them a BIT to much. I do like the turret/inventory/mine/ repair vendors. They are cool. They are still a bit to powerful though, and to vounderable to disk sniping.

Okay i've been biching to much. I got like 30 other things to say that sux, but i know you guy will come out with plenty good mods. I never REALLY played a mod in T1/T2 as my main game (other than classic.) But i feel that T3 needs a makeover.

not me

Edit: I was honestly worried that i was going to be like the people that keep complaining about the game just because it's different than T1/T2. I had only really played T2, so I hadn't had to adjust to a new game yet like the T1 vets did/tried to do with T2. Fortunately I'm not an asshat and I can have fun sucking at a new game while trying to learn it. Also fortunately, T:V base didn't suck as much as T2 base (though I never even realized that till I switched to T2 classic).

The chain gun is a complete stupid weapon its so damn stupid, and the sounds hahahah man SS:Tribes had 90% better sound than this pos.

i give it a 3/10

Chaingun is one heck of a crappy weapon. It used to take skill to use chain from distance, now it's pure luck if you hit.

Why is the chaingun a stupid weapon? I think it's a great weapon. You can still chain at a distance very effectively. You can't hold the button down anymore because the cone of fire increases as it gets hotter. Learn to use the weapon before bashing it.

Wut he said.

It took me awhile to see through the "stream-lined" style to the underlaying mechanics. There's some work there that is best discribed as elegant. What first seems to be simple and stripped down eventually proves to have a lot more emergent complexity.

You just have to use short bursts on it... if you whore it, it is not responsive.

I sotra agree here. I was never a great shot with the CG, but I enjoyed the mechanic of having to keep a low profile to avoid the so-called "chain whores". In T1 or 2 popping up too high was an invitation to death and it took both skill and brains to avoid CG fire.

That's why I hate the term "skilless weapons". Some weapons from earlier games might have required a little less skill to use, but it ALWAYS takes skill to avoid them!

yeah i have to agree on the chaingun, it needs a slight increase in accuracy. i'm sure that's a very tough setting to not overpower or underpower.

I'd actually say the spread and speed are both good right now, a mild bump up in damage would be tastey tho. It's big issue is that even when hammering a target at close range it doesn't DO much!

Remember shoving a CG up someone's whazoo in T1? It was simply the most effective weapon at close range.
