[request] grappler maps

Any aspiring "new" map makers, (not the old t1/t2 ish SH/CCDx revival dudes already working), could you please aim to make a freer grapple map?

a freer one??? one with a lot of freedom to move vertically as well as horizontally around big objects. there could be tight spaces as well, but aim to give more freedom to the nice grapple arc. utopia constrains you with the buildings, cavern is inside and dark and non-awe inspiring, stiridian doesn't allow for fully grapple length swings, or nice big arcs.
junk feels better with its huge crane, it allows for insteresting duels as you use it as a prop. now, its slightly annoying when someone just starts doing loop-de-loops, but even those are stoppable.

note, a grapple-oriented map shoudn't be the ONLY thing about it, so it will be a tough center to balance for; it'll definitely be a challenge, so maybe only advanced map makers will want to attempt it.

still though, i love the fact that you can do movements otherwise not allowed by tribes1, run out of energy? grapple for your life! hang on!

maybe a map in the air above the ground? who knows, the possibilities are endless.

Tried Destrius (sp)? It's not a CTF map unfortunately, which is why it's never going to get any playtime, but the map looks like the most pure grappler map in the game. It's indoor and dark, but with much more vertical room than Cavern.

yeah i'm not sure why indoor maps have to be dark... petition for floodlights on cavern? i'm diggin arid btw, for a great combo of grapple and ski, as well as that healthy lush green map, the name of which escapes me, both are great for combo moves... (also water skiing is fun as shazbot) now if i could only carve on those maps...

those are already in development. i can't wait till SH comes out, i'm gonna grapple the shazbot off of the middle structure. it's always begged for it honestly.

you guys gotta loosen up! seriously! grapple is the way of the future, so learn to love it, oooor dunno what to tell you. i already use it in a bunch of my routes, and winning cappers will use it a lot too. count on it being a major factor in how you move, nearly parallel to skiing.

loosen up ppl! if you wanted to compete in t1, i'm sure someone will remake a t1 classic mod and go play those. for the rest of us, base will do just fine, and i cant wait till some cooler grappler action evolves.

If I was a capper I would love the grapple. Since no one can keep up and even if they could they can't shoot so yeah.. I expect cappers really dig it.

Id like less grapple friendly maps. Is it just a coincidence Cavern is the least fav map of the beta/demo?

I dont hate it, and I can deal with it. Its just far from my fav aspect of the game, as it is today. Breaking lines/grapple hooks would go a long way to making it better, to me.

im a capper and I dont like it...sure its great...but its overpowered imo. Its like the flare for cappers now too, its in every loadout, its lame. I have like 1 weapon choice now. And for standoffs its annoying as eff. shazbot...turtling isnt as bad anymore!

...and the hanging/flying/circle thing makes me just quit the server. Yeah, I'm crying. Damn right I am. It pisses me off.

welp, dont know what to tell you guys, i've spent some time chasing grapplers, and its not a given return in 15 seconds, but its not anymore difficult than t1 with a good epacker on CCDx, as LD, i've hunted many a grappler down with returns.

you guys maybe should scrim some, and try to grapple away against a team with real ld, they'll show you just how stoppable it is.

Agreed. I love using the grappler, but I hate combating it. The one thing I am annoyed by is that the devs haven't addressed the issue at all. No feedback as to whether they didn't implement it due to coding problems, time constraints, or as a design decision. And if it is a design decision, I'd like to hear exactly why they feel that ammo is a better balancing factor than being able to destroy the grappler point.
