SuperTrap 10-11-2004, 04:29 PM I am not a competition guy. I admit that. I just don't have the time or the desire to join a team. So I play pubs. You don't have to tell me pubs suck. I know that very well. I have learned to live it. In a pub, if you don't have a vet team, you won't be catching a capper with a grapple and I already said if can manage to keep up, you can't shoot so no one bothers.
So you have a game where 2-3 people are capping and the rest are HO or defending against HO. That sure won't help the games longevity.
Pachacutec 10-11-2004, 04:31 PM if you fly through someones grapple line...it will break
(too bad shooting it doesnt work)
yeah this is definitely one the most consistent ways to stop someone cold.
among the others, burn spam the area they go through, that stops the loopers quick, or speed pack and chain, and 1 downed grappler.
shoutout for z.atreyu, he does it the old fashioned way, hunts the grappler down like a frickin angry hornet. watch out for him.

well, i think this is more that there aren't enough servers up to reflect everyones level of play. in all games there is usually a good spectrum of all newb to all vet servers. as the game gets more popular/more people buy it, it will even out.
i dont think one weapon makes a pro out of a casual player.
TheGrudge 10-11-2004, 04:38 PM I have some great ideas in my head for some good maps. I just wish I knew how to use the editor inside and out. I imagine an epic map in the sky designed majorly for grapplers in mind, but also designed in a way that you could get around without one. If you fall, you die. Would be a great way to practice.
I also have a great idea for some boot camp training type levels. Where there are lots of obstical courses that you can go through over and over and over again to practice.

grudge omg i have the same vision for that map in the sky.
THATS the kind of stuff i want to see. i can only hope we have someone working on it as we speak.
the guy that made the famous Boot Camp mod for T1 is still afk for unfortunately, he was one of our players, it had everything, bb tests, skiing, climing, sniping, mid-air practice.
hopefully someone can recreate that fantastic mod for t:v
JumboJack 10-11-2004, 05:26 PM I can't wait till someone makes a mod to remove the grappler from the game.
Zxqv8 10-11-2004, 05:31 PM Why do I get the feeling that people who hate the grappler never use it themselves?
TheGrudge 10-11-2004, 05:33 PM It's a rush and a thrill to use the grappler. To have that extra freedom in movement makes this game even more unique. Sure other games have had grapplers... but sence you can fly around... it adds a whole new twist. The ability to grab a mountain and due a u-turn mid air in less than 3 seconds is a blast.

totally. dueling off of the cranes on junk is truly inspiring, and brings to me that original thrill that i got when i first learned how to ski and i was going dooooowwwwn and uuuupppppp! on snowblind.
Magnezm 10-11-2004, 05:46 PM Grappler owns me
dunce_boy 10-11-2004, 05:48 PM welp, dont know what to tell you guys, i've spent some time chasing grapplers, and its not a given return in 15 seconds, but its not anymore difficult than t1 with a good epacker on CCDx, as LD, i've hunted many a grappler down with returns.
you guys maybe should scrim some, and try to grapple away against a team with real ld, they'll show you just how stoppable it is.
maybe you should play with people who know how to grapple...
