I am quite shocked to see that the majority of servers are empty during prime times players play! I remember shortly after release most T2 servers were full. I remember it was difficult sometimes just to find a server to play on.
Do you think that no one is buying the game? Do you think people are waiting for new maps/patches? Do you think people are playing the single player first before going online?
What the hell is going on???
It seemed to me there were more people playing the beta and multiplayer demo!
ParoxysM 10-11-2004, 11:57 AM cause it's 10am PST and people have jobs/lives
Fling 10-11-2004, 11:58 AM still, slightly more than 100 players is weak for a freshly released game.
Fling :D

Did I not say during prime time? Jesus, please read my post before posting!
menes 10-11-2004, 12:04 PM You know why.
I'll be stompin ya once the game is below 30 bucks. Till then see you at T1/T2. ;)
Bluntzman 10-11-2004, 12:05 PM Many people are still having fun with the MP demo, including myself. I only play it every now and then though.
Plus, I can't find the game at any local retailers :/ I can't justify a 45 minute trip to the nearest EB, and then a 45 minute trip back home for a single game that I'm only going to play every couple days.

Yesterday there were 660 people playing.
Assuming that:
-Many stores didn't release T:V yet because they didn't know about the date change
-T:V isn't released in Europe yet (tommorow?)
-People are playing Single Player
-T:V was not yet reviewed by PC Magazines
-Tribes series never attracted a huge crowd
It'd say the numbers are OK.
{A} PR24 10-11-2004, 12:10 PM Well one thing i have noticed is server admins need to start enforcing rules on their servers (locked or unlocked). More and more I keep seeing O sniping, Turtling (hardcore with HO's, turrets ect in base), base rape with like a 4 vs 4 and server admins even after being made aware of these things do not say a word. Enforce rules and set a presence and it would be more enjoyable to play more.

Man :(
When you think about it that breaks down to an average of 13.2 people playing per state (if you used the USA only).
660 x $50.00 = $33,000.00 for over two years of development and production. WOW!
Arcanox 10-11-2004, 12:15 PM Well today is a Monday and most people are at work. Secondly it's Canadian thanksgiving so there are no Canuks playing atm.
SelfOwnage 10-11-2004, 12:16 PM 660 x $50.00 = $33,000.00 for over two years of development and production. WOW!
Because everybody who buys it is online at the same time, right?
FreshMeat 10-11-2004, 12:22 PM 660 x $50.00 = $33,000.00 for over two years of development and production. WOW!
Not when BestBuy is selling it for 39.99.

That assumes "best-case" numbers.
More realistic to derate by 40-60% to account for free, discounted, demo, bootleg, players.
That would make it around 10-15K at best.

You do realise that 660 people is the number playing at the moment and NOT THE NUMBER OF ITEMS SOLD?
UT2004 had it's share of 100 people playing at a time (usually after a MS server reset). That doesn't mean only 100 people bought the game, does it?
Use your common sense next time.
Hansel 10-11-2004, 12:38 PM -T:V isn't released in Europe yet (tommorow?)
Next friday i think, i bet most of the people wont get it until next week tho.
Void|ByTor 10-11-2004, 12:44 PM Biggest reason for less activity is lack of solid servers. The game requires alot more than previous tribes games to host and the cost for such servers is higher.

From what I've read, most of the servers are just sitting empty - kind of odd given that there aren't a lot of servers up yet. T2 had it's share of empty servers durning launch week, but it also had a lot more servers up and running (I bought the game day one, and didn't have any problems finding good servers with T2).
Anyway, hopefully it it get a lot better by the end of the month - if not, then I'd start to worry...
pyrot3chnic 10-11-2004, 12:58 PM Like it's been said, T2 had a much better marketing budget.. T:V's was somewhat crippled because of T2's delay and eventual launch flop.
