[T:V] No drive to play at the moment...Cavalier 10-11-2004, 02:43 PM I think its because its Noon bro - you'll want to play more at night when the servers are filled! LostAngel 10-11-2004, 02:43 PM I'm hoping as well Silk. Just haven't been this down on a tribes game ever, even T2 base I liked initially. Here's hoping to the rebirth and fixes coming up in patches. LostAngel 10-11-2004, 02:44 PM I normally do play at night Cav, I'm at work right now. This was just from my impressions last night after our practice and an hour or two of pubbing. HypnosisFX 10-11-2004, 02:48 PM LA, i have a FX-53 with 2 gigs of Corsair XMS 3200 and a BFG 6800 Ultra OC. and im getting between 75-100 fps on retail in 5150 servers and a few other 20 player servers that i ping at least 60-90 in, i get hammered on the 32 players servers and my fps drops t about 45 fps. Ive seen no performance loss as of yet. I only have Ventrilo running and Nortons internet in the back ground. Now i tweaked my rig so that may be the differance cause i disabled ALOT of Background running task. www.blackviper.com is the site that tells you how to realy tweak your game rig. Ive played through 2 map rotaions non-stop and cant wait to get home and play. NOVA|MerauderFX jotun 10-11-2004, 02:54 PM I've done more HUD making type stuff than I've actually played the game because of these damn freezes. KambuL 10-11-2004, 03:19 PM I would wait until the ladder starts to solidify before making a choice. Often, its the competition that really makes the game. TTHREAZ 10-11-2004, 03:20 PM Jesse just misses his Big Titty. :D I've had the chance to play a lot in the past few days and MP is OK. I wish more of my teammates had it so we could all play together but most of them don't like it, won't try it or haven't gotten it yet. There will be times where I have a bunch of free time and I'll sit there staring at my monitor and I don't even have the slightest desire to play. Masybe I'm *gasp* growing up. ;) FreshMeat 10-11-2004, 03:21 PM you cant regain fps as in 05. even with tweaks, clean install & whatnot. its the game and im losing interest to play, but ill always play in matches/scrims. i dont like the new maps either :( My system was running really bad, when I first loaded Beta3 at Tribalwars. I had to play in 800x600 with everything on LOW. This is in a machine with the following specs... PV 2.8GHz HT ASUS P4P800-SE 1GB PC3200 Memory GF FX 5700 256MB I then ran through all the steps I posted earlier. When I finished, I could play T:V at 1280x1024 with everything on either Medium or High, at stay around 40-60 FPS. Not the greatest, but it was a huge improvement for me. Now I have an ATI x800 256mb and I don't have to worry about FPS anymore. :) Cavalier 10-11-2004, 03:34 PM I normally do play at night Cav, I'm at work right now. This was just from my impressions last night after our practice and an hour or two of pubbing. I guess i left out the [sarcasm] tags. LoVer 10-11-2004, 03:47 PM The new maps are ... mediocre at best. Out of 12 of them or however many there are, there are only 3 that are moderately fun. So 75% of the time I log in to pub, I'm not having a good time because the map is just crummy. It's just depressing. Maybe competition will spark the fever again... but right now I just feel really sad. I don't want to move onto another game, but this isn't the tribes I used to know :( I'll try and keep pubbing in hopes things change so I guess I'll see you guys in the pubs. Our team seems to have a similar layout. About 75% of us feel 'bleh', 10% hate the game, and 15% really like it. Just was wondering if anyone else had the same feeling? Or is it just me. I hate having to talk in all caps to my teammates, but: WAIT TILL THE COMPETITION STARTS BEFORE YOU DAMN IT. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!@@@@!@!@12312;OKJ Note to everyone, not just my loVe LA: Don't judge the maps and ESPECIALLY not the game as a whole until the competition scene is in full swing. You just haven't seen it play yet, and if you expect pubs to give you the same thrill as when you were 17 and skipping skool to pub t1, then get over it. Pubs were never fun, you were just dumb, bored, and 17. Now you have a real life and the real thrill of tribes is still there, its just in the hype and the competition. Try to pub when you are high, that will help. LoVer 10-11-2004, 03:50 PM Yea I feel the same. Pubs are god-awful as usual. The dedicated server release (beta) seems to bring on shazbotty netcode, which makes me have trigger lag as if I have 200 ping when i'm pinging 30. The whole "drive" that use to be there when i played T2 isn't there anymore. And by drive i mean the desire to pub. I guess it was because I was more of a newbie in the early days of T2 so my ignorance made it fun...I dunno. Now I join pubs and it never ceases to amaze me the stupidity of some people (the people that join to just tk, etc.). I've lost hope altogether with pubbing, but i'm hoping my drive will jumpstart again once my team gets into competition. Right now the major reason I'm playing is not because I like T:V (as a game I still do), but because I like TRIBES and the people I play TRIBES with. See my above post. Stilgar 10-11-2004, 04:22 PM LA, The common portion of most of the complaints I'm noticing is nvidia cards. So maybe it's the drivers? Rollback, sideways, whatever. I had sworn by the 45.23s until I went ATI. Falhawk 10-11-2004, 04:24 PM hopefully opening comp will help LostAngel 10-11-2004, 05:15 PM LA, The common portion of most of the complaints I'm noticing is nvidia cards. So maybe it's the drivers? Rollback, sideways, whatever. I had sworn by the 45.23s until I went ATI. Believe it or not, it was worse with my 9800 Pro 256mb that I won from TW:W which is the whole reason I went BACK to Nvidia. HypnosisFX 10-11-2004, 05:17 PM I dont have any issues running it with my card, it runs smooth on the latest drivers. Try some system tweaks and see if that improves it at all. EnriqueHavoc 10-11-2004, 05:54 PM for some reason, i read the thread title as you had no cd-drive and couldnt play without the securom... bdm 10-11-2004, 07:58 PM I think the drive derives from 2 things... Pubs just arent fun. When the whole point of this game type is 'team compettion' its hard to have fun when most of your 'teammates' on a pub are doing who knows what (not productive). Yeah you can pub with your buddies all on the same team (and stomp the other team ... but again really whats the fun of that) The game itself has just lost excitement. And instead of adding elements of complexity to add to the game.. its been toned down (made easier) for new players. psygnosis_lags Satan- 10-11-2004, 08:00 PM LA, The common portion of most of the complaints I'm noticing is nvidia cards. Idk man ive got a 6800 ultra running 1280X1024 4XAA 8X ANtro and it runs smooth as buttah with 20 ppl in the server. Zxqv8 10-11-2004, 08:02 PM I think pubs are only not fun when you're trying to play as though it was a match. If losing the flag game frustrates you so...stop playing it. If everyone wants to deathmatch, hop on the bandwagon. The idea of the game, and pubs in general, is to have fun. If the only way you can have fun is in a serious match, compete! Otherwise just do like the rest of those effs: dick around. | ||
