Will there be any official support for widescreen resolutions like 1280x768? I can force the game into this in the ini file but I end up cropping the top and bottom of my view rather then getting a little more on the sides.
It would be sweet if I could use my whole monitor instead of just the middle.

You can manually set it in the ini, I forgot who is running that crazy W I D E res...

Yeah, I've manually set it in the ini but it doesn't actually give me wide res, it just crops it into a wide resolution, so it ends up cutting off the top and bottom of what I'd normally see.

If anyone else uses the fix in Greydog's post you'll also need to change the field of view. If you want the same ratio as non-widescreen the FOV should be 106.25, I think.

Bump.. so I dont have to make a new post.
I tried to edit the file (DefTribesGuiState.ini), but it doesnt seem to take effect. You cant just save it with the same name either. So I saved it as a different name, deleted the original, and replaced it with the updated version.
I cant seem to get to work, any help? :(

BTW, in Unreal based games you can just type "setres 1280x768x32" to change the resolution to standard 17" wide screen.
?

Yeah that seems to "work". It does change the res, but I dont know if its 1280x1050 like I typed or not. When I went to video, it had 1280x1024 selected.
Is there a way to tell if it worked? I would just feel better if it was an option within the game to select. There must be some user error of some kind on why it wont let me save the changes made. :/

Ah-ha, success!
What you have to do is, in the ... \VUGames\Tribes Vengeance\Program\Bin folder find the TV_CD_DVD.ini.
[WinDrv.WindowsClient]
change the lines ...
FullscreenViewportX=640
FullscreenViewportY=480
And in the User.ini in the same folder, under the heading
[Engine.PlayerController]
change the lines ...
DesiredFOV=85.000000
DefaultFOV=85.000000
What mine looks like now;
FullscreenViewportX = 1680
FullscreenViewportY = 1050
MenuViewportX = 1280
MenuViewportY = 720
FOV: 100.38886
Worked like a champ!
