sYs|yavor 10-11-2004, 12:45 PM Not actually since the game was released last Friday and not week ago like you said. Also those stats dont show how many are playing the SP.
Ontrose, tell me, have you seen gamespy stats before and after the release date of any good FPS game? Have you?
BTW - Friday? Patch was released at the moment of premiere. Fifth day, yes, but not of the week. Of October.
P Masta Flex 10-11-2004, 12:48 PM I havent bought it yet, but when I get the money I will
the demo is great and the levels I've seen screenshots of say T:V will rock
but i'll always play my t1
FreshMeat 10-11-2004, 12:48 PM ZOD make maps!!! I'll help if you can teach me :)
MakaveliBC 10-11-2004, 12:54 PM Bought it Saturday (damn ATL retailers) and although it's a Tribes game, it isn't *the* Tribes game. SP is tight, gotta give it up to Irrational for a good job there. MP is .... variable. It does all the things Tribes games are supposed to do. Skiing, MA's, capping, dueling, etc. But I think Vengeance has gone beyond Tribes in a way. Comparing it to Quake3/UT is pretty apt because that's almost how it feels. Everything seems tweaked for the short-term gamer rather than the long-term match player.
I agree. Though I am really enjoying the game, it's difficult for me to jump onto a server and play for very long, before I get burnt out on the chaotic pace of the game. Perhaps I enjoy more methodical slightly slower gameplay, ala T2, but T:V has alot of things I like, but many of the problems I have with it, are a result of the close proximity of the bases. ie easy HO base rapes, 5 second caps, chasing is virtually non-existent now.
It's just not a game I can log in and play for hours. It feels like an adrenalin junkies dream. It's tribes, but it's not tribes. Oh well, I'll play and enjoy it, with hopes of mappers and modders salvaging the wreckage.
JimBodkins 10-11-2004, 12:56 PM Good game, really. It isnt my cup of tea, so I bought it (for SP and for support of the franchise), but I dont plan on playing it MP.
The people that prefer player focused fraggers should be quiet (stop whining like children) and play it. :) It isnt a perfect fit for everyone, but for those that are even close, this is the last in the tribes chain unless you play. (I'm going to look at 2845).
It's not for me (I need vehicles and something you could draw on a war planning map :) . Besides, I bought it - 53 bucks). But it sure looks terrific to me otherwise.
Shut up and play kiddies.
menes 10-11-2004, 12:58 PM There isn't going to be a T4. Anyone with the pull to make that come true is long gone from VUG.
My feeling is some other astute company will do a T4 (the right way) other than a UT based company.
Someone will use the correct engine and physics and reap the true benefits of a Tribes community.
Its too strong a concept to be ignored forever and that company will make millions without flooding the market with ten packages of overpriced junk.

With the continued digression of the series, it's hard to care much anymore after 5 years of letdowns. Maybe someone will make a mod, lol.

Yeah keep making your own facts, makes you look really smart. I guess that was common in your country when it still was a satellite state of Soviets.
blayze 10-11-2004, 01:05 PM german's bitch

Are you kidding? Could an admin watch this guy? You may have an emerging bigot on your hands.
blayze 10-11-2004, 01:17 PM [off topic] Dear God, he said something that actually happened he quoted history. What a bigot.. [/off topic]
Bluntzman 10-11-2004, 01:21 PM Haven't purchased the game yet, but I'll get around to it at some point. I just don't have the motivation right now to spend $50 on a game I'll play 2-3 days a week or so.
I still have fun playing the MP demo, but the game really isn't that addictive. I can put it down for a week or 2 and be able to pick it up again without issue.

Bigot? No, just tired of reading all the yavor whining in every forum until he is banned.
FantasticDamage 10-11-2004, 01:32 PM I spent all my spending money on booze and weed this weekend. I'll get it next week.
JodoFett 10-11-2004, 01:47 PM Bought it even though I have a free copy that's supposed to be coming and haven't gotten it yet. I got hosed.
pyrot3chnic 10-11-2004, 01:55 PM Bought it on the 6th.. love it. Both the MP and SP are great. I'm hoping for some continuation of the story, but I guess we have to wait a few months to see how T:V does sales-wise. We still have the holiday season coming.
Bursar 10-11-2004, 02:10 PM I'll buy it when it finally shows up this side of the pond. Although I get the feeling I won't play it nearly as much as the previous incarnations.
Magnezm 10-11-2004, 02:11 PM I don't have that withdrawal feeling when I am not playing like I did with the other franchise releases. Maybe it is just my age.... I think I play for the competitive teamplay and the community. Nothing else out there ever catches my attention for longer than a week.
A couple of the maps could use some work.
