"lesson learned" (c) Menzo:lol: Casey Jones 10-15-2004, 03:23 AM Im not sure where I stand on T:V. When I first played it I liked it and disliked it at the same time. Problem is my opinion has not really changed since then but I blame that mostly on the fact that my computer doesn't run it well enough and the high pings I experience are intollerable at best. I don't have time to compete on any ladders either so it hasn't motivated me to play it more than an hour or so a week on top of that. I dunno......... I bought it but I feel ambivalent. Guess I just had $40 burning a hole in my pocket and thought it might be good to have in case I wanted to jump on and play with some people I know once in a while. Dea 10-15-2004, 07:02 AM I did rounds today trough the biggest gaming stores in London and everyone is telling me that it'll come out 22nd. GG@VUG :fu: Nikoui 10-15-2004, 07:17 AM available in France the ... 22nd :( (for 50€, when all new Hit Games are at 60€, good news) Pachacutec 10-15-2004, 03:01 PM resticky the thread! so people can see the great majority like it or will buy it :) Discourse 10-15-2004, 04:36 PM Getting it the 22nd (44.90 €, haha). jgs 10-15-2004, 06:19 PM Need to add *Bought it and will like it once its complete and Major bugs are resolved. Gmankuza 10-15-2004, 10:04 PM loving it Plague 10-15-2004, 11:31 PM I picked "played it, liked it," but if there was an "it was okay" option, I would have used it. In general I'd give this game a 7.5 or 8 out of 10, somewhere around there, which is coincidentally what I see all the reviews giving it. JimBodkins 10-16-2004, 12:58 AM You know the funny thing is, I feel so much better about the game having played the SP. It puts the MP system/weapons/maps/etc into a context. Just playing the betas and demos didnt do that. pyrot3chnic 10-16-2004, 02:23 AM You know the funny thing is, I feel so much better about the game having played the SP. ScratchMonkey 10-16-2004, 02:02 PM Hmm, no option for "bought it, haven't played it". Been to busy at the office this week and now I have to go unclog some plumbing. :boohoo: :flame: At this point the devs have our money. Most of the people who would buy the game have bought it. I don't have a lot of hope for continuing sales. One thing that would give rise to hope is a roadmap showing actual future milestones the devs intend to achieve. Fat chance of that happening. This is one reason why I'm beginning to favor subscription games: The devs have to show real ongoing involvement to continue pulling in that monthly fee. And there is a game (http://planetside.com/) out there that, like Tribes 2, offers combat and teamwork on a massive scale. dudeman 10-17-2004, 12:20 PM again poor coverage in the weekly circulars... no good sales, just a teeny thumbnail of the box in most... oh well I guess it's going to be a slow build up of players dontlike_tv 10-17-2004, 01:07 PM the game is gonna sell it for £27.50, 39.76 EUR but i heard from a sales assitant it could go down too £19.99 28.90 EUR by the middle of november as reports havent been good on sales in the us. quoting game assistant from hammersmith, london. Tribes: Vengeance will also build upon the Tribes series' legendary online multiplayer action by continuing to focus on team-oriented goals and fluid movement. Developer Irrational Games has hired one of the Tribes community's leading developers to head up the design and creation of the game's multiplayer component. Particular focus is being given to making Tribes: Vengeance easily accessible to the video game modification (MOD) community. Irrational Games and VU Games have worked together to ensure that Tribes: Vengeance's game modification tools are easily accessible and robust. Ace07 10-17-2004, 02:07 PM again poor coverage in the weekly circulars... no good sales, just a teeny thumbnail of the box in most... oh well I guess it's going to be a slow build up of players Wait, isn't that how T1 worked? Slowly people bought the game and loved it? The game has a lot of potential, and I think with mods it could contend quite readily with the other top dogs in the industry. If you want toys to play with, just wait for the mods. dudeman 10-17-2004, 02:42 PM Wait, isn't that how T1 worked? Slowly people bought the game and loved it? If you want toys to play with, just wait for the mods. yes, but I think we all loved T1 and felt annoyed that most of our friends couldn't be swayed into it at the same time. I've joked many times that this is another t1, a great game that too many people are going to miss out on... I guess there's nothing to be done, fun is fun and I'll stick with it ScratchMonkey 10-17-2004, 02:44 PM Remember that it's competing with Doom3, HL2, and even UT2004. For people who haven't played T1 or T2, "UT with jet packs" is how they'll see it. Never mind that the vehicles and dynamics are different. If you want volume, you're gonna have to go after the larger market of non-Tribes junkies. That means actual selling instead of flaming. Mods may help, but only if mods are written; but why write a mod for T:V if you can write the same mod for UT and have it run on far more platforms, with much more support? americanjoe 10-17-2004, 02:49 PM Remember that it's competing with Doom3, HL2, and even UT2004. Mods may help, but only if mods are written; but why write a mod for T:V if you can write the same mod for UT and have it run on far more platforms, with much more support? this is true, yet starting off with segregating half your already established community base hasn't done wonders for T:V neither ... still hasn't broke that 1500 mark (free demo and retail combined) and is almost 3 weeks out ... that’s not good no matter what game it is  dontlike_tv 10-17-2004, 04:47 PM well read my 1st post and read link in thread 7 its only a few people that like tv most really hate it for some good reasons. if you look around forums its 40 that love it and 60 that hate it but the more forums i read the more peopel hate it. if i had the money i would try to hire dynamic again to sort this job but i dont its a shame. you guys liek it now but how many have said that now 2 weeks into the soem are now starting to say well its getting boring? a few hell lots of people just luke at twl, gwl, euro forums, ing forums, garage forums, there are hell of a lot of peopel that dislike it and really when you go from forum to forum most are almost complaing about teh same stuff. menes 10-17-2004, 04:59 PM well read my 1st post and read link in thread 7 its only a few people that like tv most really hate it for some good reasons. if you look around forums its 40 that love it and 60 that hate it but the more forums i read the more peopel hate it. if i had the money i would try to hire dynamic again to sort this job but i dont its a shame. you guys liek it now but how many have said that now 2 weeks into the soem are now starting to say well its getting boring? a few hell lots of people just luke at twl, gwl, euro forums, ing forums, garage forums, there are hell of a lot of peopel that dislike it and really when you go from forum to forum most are almost complaing about teh same stuff. Well the poll above shows "for" at roughly 45% so this is about right but I think that "hate" is a pretty strong word. "Dissapointed" or "hopeful of the future" may be more appropriate choices. | ||
