For me it was being able to deploy and build up a defense around the base and to defend it. Other than that it was the heavy arsenal of weaponry that the heavies could unleash upon the opposing enemies, along with the HUGE maps and complex bases.
Too bad that Tribes Vengeance only holds one of these qualities.
But I'll still buy the POS. :roller:
Fat Steve 10-09-2004, 12:45 AM it was free
TheGrudge 10-09-2004, 12:49 AM The jetpacks were the first thing that got me... then it was the bases and teamwork. My friend played it alot when it was beta and he made a .mp3 soundtrack for the game. Songs that went realy good while playing it. I got into it.. and ended up making my own soundtrack also.
With T:V though... I rely alot on hearing enemy's jetpacks and footsteps and whatnot.. so I can't have music distract me.. unfortunatly. I love listening to music while gaming.
Mustard Packet 10-09-2004, 12:49 AM wow you really like KFC dont you?
°Gn0m3_Gr0wN° 10-09-2004, 12:54 AM started playing in during high-school, programming was boring
Veovis 10-09-2004, 01:00 AM Large bases .... teamwork .... sprawling maps .... countless diverse roles
I loved T1, and really loved T2 due to these elements and more.
T:V is entertaining.
Razer 10-09-2004, 01:02 AM The Bioderm "Bwahahahahaha" in T2. Seriously. No matter how badly I was doing when I first started out, that ridiculous laugh would always entertain me.
eXiman 10-09-2004, 01:03 AM Friend introduced it to me in 8th grade (now 2nd year in college). Was intrigued by it's depth,t eamwork, and it's replay value. Played T1 Shifter heavily (pretty much from its birth to death). Passed T2 because from what I had heard it was just a bomb in all aspects. Got word of T:V, played the beta - instantly rehooked although it has lost so much of its original inventive aspects. Bought T:V on the 6th and haven't stopped playing, and I doubt I ever will.
Stilgar 10-09-2004, 01:21 AM It was a persistent, online community.

Spookious1 10-09-2004, 01:27 AM I played online and that was all she wrote. :) The speed... the jetpacks...
Silverbane 10-09-2004, 01:47 AM Picked it up at the store first day it came out, new game, never heard of T1... box w/ a funny looking flap that opened on its side...

zVxTeflon 10-09-2004, 01:48 AM jet packs. and i thought the spinfusor was a kickin rad gun.
Wolfchylde 10-09-2004, 01:56 AM a fellow employee at my job constantly telling me about all the fun he had playing it (T1) and how I NEEDED to play and try my hand at it. He basically pestered me till I bought it and then I was hooked...
Greywolf 10-09-2004, 02:09 AM i saw that you could deploy a defence, and maintain it

WerTicus 10-09-2004, 02:18 AM it was the im just one man in this 'huge' battle feel for me... i remember just hiding behind a wall and watching tracer fire and mortars flying over head and thinking 'holy crap' thats realy other people fighting...
then i stopped being a newb. :P
Fugazni 10-09-2004, 02:21 AM I bought it because of a screenshot ad in PC Gamer that came out in consecutive issues before T1 was released. It was just a picture of a big landscape with formations of players and vehicles, but it looked damn fun. Think I actually bought it a week after release.
eM.Einsteinium 10-09-2004, 02:36 AM A guy in my house bought a copy, passed it around (warez ohnoes) and we were all hooked. Now a proud owner of T2 (guess as proud as you can be with T2, at least classic was fun) and T:V.
