Problem with quick favs

I changed the shift key from [shift] to [q]. I noticed on a buddies machine that when he pressed shift that the menu stayed up. but for me when I press q the menu stays up MAYBE 0.5 seconds. so I have gotten used to holding q down, to get my light armor or by using fast fingers and pressing q-e really fast to get my heavy armor. but as far as the voice system goes its nearly impossible for me to say anything.

so #1 wtf is wrong?
