{A} PR24 10-08-2004, 07:48 PM Are you trying to host a server from your home? What connection do you have?
Tanked 10-08-2004, 07:49 PM You need to forward port 7777 (TCP) from your router to your servers private i.p. address.

This wont work because the server I have here at home is in the dmz and still showing up as a private IP

Yes, I am hosting it from home. I told you 5 megabytes per second connection.
The computer I'll be running it off is
-dual cpu 2.8
-1 gig ram
-radeon 9700
-80 gig HD

This is how I ran beta demo and demo servers.
Machine behind a router, on my cable internet, forward port 7777 from the router to 192.168.1.whatever, and it will work. Yes, i know, cable internet, but it works for 8 players.
Blitz, you don't know how to connect to your router and open/forward ports? Also, your 5mbits number is probably your DOWNstream rate, NOT upstream, typically upstream is MUCH less, and that is what is important with hosting a server.

server is sitting in the dmz, so I shouldnt need to port forward anything...
Tanked 10-08-2004, 08:05 PM Allright, you need to go to netgear's website, look up your router model number and learn how to admin it.
OR it should have come with a manual.
Typically, you connect to the routers internal website using http://192.168.1.1

Unless you are alotted a PUBLIC i.p. address, you still need to forward ports.
private i.p. addresses are not resolvable on or from public networks.
mc-fine 10-08-2004, 08:07 PM windows firewall?
Blitz 10-08-2004, 08:10 PM windows firewall?

ok, the router didn't come with a manual. I'll head to the website. Thanks

ok what do I do now.
Tanked 10-08-2004, 08:14 PM You figured out how to connect to your routers admin website?
If so, its fairly self explanatory, browse to the appropriate page, and forward port 7777 (TCP) to your servers i.p. address.
