Ok here's tha basic system setup:

Celeron 2.8 ghz ( I know celeron sux but hey it was like $400 for whole thing)
80 gig HD
1.5 gig DDR 2700 ram
Win Xp sp2
Directx 9c
BFG 6800 GT OC (411/1100)
Driver version forceware 66.81

I followed the Rivatuner ideas about blitting and all that hoping it would improve things but even at low settings 800x600 everything off except fogging distance. I get avg fps 25 and when im in a area where anything is happening it drops to 15-17 FPS ....

Something is very wrong here, With that system and Vidoe card i Should be rolling at least 40FPS all the time I think.

Any ideas on What im doing wrong here??

I'm not sure how well the Celerons do on the Unreal engine seeing as its pretty CPU intensive but 250 watts is low for the 6800 GT. I think you might need more juice. How is your performance in other more recent games?

Not totally sure there..need to get 3dmark ill do that when i get home...In City of heroes its ok but not much different than the 5200 I just took out of that machine. I suppose it could be power supply related....

What do they reccommend for 6800 Cards 300? 350?

Nvidia's recommended is 350 watts. I know ppl have been able to do fine with lower but if you performance is lower across the board for diff games that could be the culprit.

I'll run 3d mark this evening and see what happens...

if it runs low you may be right ....uggh $400 on video card gonna have to spend another couple hundred on new power supply lol

thx for the idea though :roller:

I'd think it's the Celeron too, but that much difference?

I mean he's running at 8x6, low details, and only 25 fps?

How much do you have running at start up? That PC manufacturer may have loaded a ton of different 'junk' programs that are auto-loading.

Do a clean boot, and check your task manager. Report how many processess you have running.

27 running processes totalling about 112k

that shouldn't be too much, .. from my experience anyways. Given a celeron is way slower but still at 2.8 ghz it should at least run like a 2.4 ghz intel I would think. OK maybe 2.2 ghz but still...

I fully expected to be able to run at 1024x 768 with medium settings at the very least.

cant really compare them like that....but if i would give a very wide guess of what it would be equal to in a p4, id say 1.9 or 2.0 maybe
