Used clonecd 5.0.2.2 and Daemontools 3.47. When starting the game (with TV_CD_DVD.exe MP-Cavern?GameStats=False?Ma xPlayers=20?game=GameClas ses.ModeCTF -server -log=Server.log) the system chugs for a minute, then gives me a securerom error. Anyone figure the bypass for this?

As an aside, this whole technology is really lame.

Do you have the securerom emulation turned on in daemon tools?

Yes, it does not work with that enabled. I'm thinking about trying alcohol120%.

OMG!

Did you say SecuROM??

FARK! I thought Atari was the only publisher stupid enough to slap that non-functional POS on their disks!!!
Christ almighty on a hoping horse! There's a bloody class action suit against Atari in progress for selling products with known defects!

I hope your wrong and it's some other flavor of copy protection...

ok. That sounds like a logical next step.

Don't bother. I've tried both with a ccd image that I made myself off the disc. I've even tried renaming the drive to something other than AXV. Still no go.

*fixed* Error pic (http://clanfta.org/downloads/) click on the phuckingghei.jpg. My webhost doesn't allow linking.

Wow this is retarded. Thanks VUG for making it virtually impossible to host a dedicated server via securom. No effing pun intended. And thanks to IG for not having a standalone dedicated server as a priority.

Anybody have any other emulation ideas?

Seriously nowadays copy protection causes more harm than good. Atari and Bioware got blasted by their paying customers due to the huge percentage of people with legit copies that couldn't play, nevermind stuff like this.

It's not SecuROM, that's for sure. Check the copy protection on Homeworld 2. That's our standard set. It does exactly what we expect of it, and it does help stop piracy. Remember, less than 5% of our audience are sofisticated computer users. The job of the copy protection is to stop casual copying of CDs. I'm not trying to stop Ixiterra or other TW folks from installing a no-cd. I am trying to keep my Uncle from making a copy for his buddy at work.

Please bitch all you want about copy protection. The day people stop stealing my software is the day I'll stop trying to prevent that theft.

someone has made a liar out of thrax.

This would be VUG's doing, not Irrational's. SecuROM would have been added after the gold disk was handed off.

Friggen publishers! Shoot 'em all and let god sort 'em out!

Can anyone verify that servers are started with the same command line? If I'm doing it wrong, then maybe you'd expect such an error (i.e., on for normal, off for servers).

Dang, you better report this one to SecuRom so they know their product is working as advertised so they can break it..

Well that tears it....it's now impossible to set up a dedicated server without buying a second copy, and even then it's only possible if you can keep the cd in the drive at the CoLo.

Well, I had some high hopes for T:V....but if this doesn't get fixed like yesterday, the community is all that will be playing anytime soon...and it'll KILL the sales after reviews of the MP are terrible because there are like 3 servers up...

eff.

A standalone dedicated server application should have been a high enough priority to make release.

I blame em both.

Tried Alcohol120%. Ripped with the SecuROM 4.x/5.x option, enabled ALL emulation. Same error. At this point, I'm going to go eat. Been working on this for the last 2 hours.

i cant believe the "ball" is being "dropped" this badly..
i'm certain there's an explanation to it all...

guys that have the retail game, tell us what you see in the multiplayer server listings? hell i'm sure they provided a way for homelan and other places like that to host servers right? mailed them free copies or something?
