I hope to God this was an honest mistake or oversight, not a ploy to sell more copies. If that's the case, this is gonna backfire in a massive way. byteasc 10-06-2004, 02:59 PM not sure why it was ever set up like they had it anyways. there is 2 seperate exes for a reason (the game exe and ucc.exe).. ucc is normally used for Servers, etc, because it doesn't have cd check crap.. but since whenever, it seems the need to allow that option was removed.. therefore taking a big dump on the release heh jotun 10-06-2004, 03:01 PM you also shouldn't need the entire game to run a server Banditman 10-06-2004, 03:02 PM Frankly I can't understand why a dedicated server package wasn't released about a week ago so that there would be servers available on day 1. Not exactly brilliant marketing. jsut 10-06-2004, 03:02 PM i thought ucc was the script compiler or something. Midnj 10-06-2004, 03:02 PM ya ucc isn't for hosting jsut 10-06-2004, 03:03 PM T2 required the whole retail game to run a server, but it didn't require a CD in the drive, and it didn't require it's own key. Midnj 10-06-2004, 03:04 PM as it shouldnt we're providing a servers FOR vivendi - no reason they should try to profit off hosing... It has to be an erro -Geist- 10-06-2004, 03:05 PM Frankly I can't understand why a dedicated server package wasn't released about a week ago so that there would be servers available on day 1. Not exactly brilliant marketing. Or they delay the release back to its original date and have the server package done in time. Doesn't seem very smart to me to release a game early and then have a bunch of remote servers not be able to get it. G1ZM0 10-06-2004, 03:08 PM Hopefully they'll patch out the CD check for everyone in a few weeks. Midnj 10-06-2004, 03:09 PM Hopefully they'll patch out the CD check for everyone in a few weeks. a few weeks? so what, we'll all buy a couple copies of T:V? FantasticDamage 10-06-2004, 03:09 PM If the whole Vivendi-Valve lawsuit controversy has taught us anything, it's that Vivendi will spite a promising game just to save/make a couple bucks. At this point I'd expect anything from those scumbags. jsut 10-06-2004, 03:11 PM as it shouldnt we're providing a servers FOR vivendi - no reason they should try to profit off hosing... It has to be an erro the sad part is i think they said they were going to do this before (requiring key's for servers) Yogi 10-06-2004, 03:13 PM i thought ucc was the script compiler or something. ucc is what is used to run commandlets. "make" is a commandlet (the compiler). But there are other ones. For instance, the T:V TV stuff is commandlets and run via ucc. biscuit 10-06-2004, 03:13 PM Hmmm, Ive never heard that, I hope that isnt the case. I definately wouldn't buy an extra copy to run my server, Im not even going to go through the trouble of copying and vmounting it. I hope this changes quick. |CO|Kapeket!! 10-06-2004, 03:14 PM Frankly I can't understand why a dedicated server package wasn't released about a week ago so that there would be servers available on day 1. Banditman 10-06-2004, 03:17 PM Menzo commented in another thread that there would be a package like this at some point, but the CD requirement for a dedicated server makes this issue far more important. | ||
