You have GOT to be kidding me!!!Animal 10-06-2004, 03:10 PM  Yogi 10-06-2004, 03:10 PM would you agree that releasing with this lack of dedicated server support is a bad move? Yeah, really stupid. I assumed this was part of what it meant to be "Gold" BitRaiser 10-06-2004, 03:12 PM As I mentioned, we really have no idea what sort of pressures there are/were. This is a definate oddness, but I wouldn't call it a breaker. BTW, can someone with th retail game check the number of running servers and report back? Animal 10-06-2004, 03:16 PM I'M SO MAD I COULD KILL>>>> KILLLLLLLLLLLL BitRaiser 10-06-2004, 03:18 PM Ugh. There's SecuROM on the disk... that tears it. It's VUGs fault. Wolfchylde 10-06-2004, 03:18 PM You know a game going GOLD only means that it has X number of orders from vendors. I think Gold is 100k copies, but I could be mistaken (Have to ask a friend who works for EB). If I were the paranoid conspriacy theory type, Id say this was done so that people would play the single player campaign that they touted so much. Of course, Im not, and Im PRAYING they wouldnt be that stupid... However this release is rivalling that of T2 for sheer brilliance.. BitRaiser 10-06-2004, 03:20 PM You know a game going GOLD only means that it has X number of orders from vendors. I think Gold is 100k copies, but I could be mistaken (Have to ask a friend who works for EB). Er... wrong. That's what it means in the music industry. In the games industry it means the final game code has been burned to disk (traditionally a gold leaf CD) and sent to the manufacturer for mass production. Gandalf 10-06-2004, 03:21 PM Going "Gold" does NOT refer to how many orders are in with vendors. It refers to the game being sent to the duplicators. "Gold" refers to the master CD. Falhawk 10-06-2004, 03:22 PM Hey maybe this is their way of getting everyone to play single player first. Since there won't be many servers we'll have to play it. Asura 10-06-2004, 03:23 PM secureROM? jesus, someone made a BAD decision applying to get VUG to cover this. VUG hates all PC games like a fat kid hates diets. That crap doesn't friggen WORK! It's a 50/50 shot now that it will opperate on my machine... This same issue came up with Atari slapping SecuROM on their stuff and I'm sitting on an e-mail that gives me offical premission to crack their games! Vampire 10-06-2004, 03:28 PM Yeah this was a bad idea, not as bad of an idea as Tribes 2, but pretty bad. I think this is somewhere between Tribes 2 and Planetside on the scale of bad ideas. Kryptik 10-06-2004, 03:29 PM There is no way in hell I am running back to the store to buy another copy so I can run a server......Thanks alot VU *JiNmEn* 10-06-2004, 03:31 PM wow thats incredibly stupid idea Destiny 10-06-2004, 03:32 PM send Kenny back to the store ;) ROFL Trevelyan 10-06-2004, 03:32 PM Someone tell us, who has the game and has played it, how many freaking servers there are right now!!! JeToh 10-06-2004, 03:32 PM Gan, Which one did you put up? Smackdown or remotelabs? heading home in 28 min to install.... | ||
