If I were the paranoid conspriacy theory type, Id say this was done so that people would play the single player campaign that they touted so much.

That's what it means in the music industry. In the games industry it means the final game code has been burned to disk (traditionally a gold leaf CD) and sent to the manufacturer for mass production.

Going "Gold" does NOT refer to how many orders are in with vendors. It refers to the game being sent to the duplicators. "Gold" refers to the master CD.

Hey maybe this is their way of getting everyone to play single player first.


Since there won't be many servers we'll have to play it.

This same issue came up with Atari slapping SecuROM on their stuff and I'm sitting on an e-mail that gives me offical premission to crack their games!

Yeah this was a bad idea, not as bad of an idea as Tribes 2, but pretty bad.

I think this is somewhere between Tribes 2 and Planetside on the scale of bad ideas.
