So why no CD case?

Was there a logical reason why Tribes: Vengeance shipped with the CDs in individual paper sleeves instead of a CD case?

I hate CD sleeves.

It also sucks that the CD key is on a label stuck to one of the sleeves. Since the sleeves are plain uncoated paper, it'll be hard to remove the CD key label (in order to put the CDs in a case along with the key) without tearing the sleeve.

Yeah... I like stacking my game cases... especialy those ones that hold 3-4 discs like the one that came with Doom 3.

I know it's cheaper...I was hoping someone would provide some other less miserly reason for it so I could say, "Oh, ok...that makes sense."

Retarded since Euros will get cases... and probably DVD's since almost every company ships them

Do we need the cd in to play or no? If no, then I don't really care, but otherwise that sucks.

dear lord i hope not

removable media is just a pain in the ass... installing from them is bad enough, but having to put it in each time :\

Blame it on those scumbags at Vivendi.

how about you just buy empty cases? or recycle old unused cases?
If that's the worst probelm with the game, I can live with it.
I also hope that the CD is not required to play, too much of a risk of scratching it.

reminds me of a crappy low budget no-name game... which tribes is to a lot of people.

American publishers continue to fear DVD thats why...

Its slowly getting better, but I guess 4 cds isn't considered enough to make DVD viable.. versus say 6+ CDs... I'd be curious on price per CD ver price per DVD

If it's cheaper to use sleeves, then we shouldn't have to pay the standard $50 :D

The price difference on the media is negligible. The price effectiveness in going from a fully functional cd-pressing facility to a dvd-pressing facility is the problem.
