I didn't have a dvd drive in my system until about a year ago. I never watch movies on my PC (have the tv for that) and nothing really came on dvd format anyway.
4 Discs? come on now....Kerosene31 10-06-2004, 01:42 PM I didn't have a dvd drive in my system until about a year ago. Psychogamer 10-06-2004, 01:52 PM If T:V ends up sucking you have 4 coasters instead of 1  tkmaster234 10-06-2004, 01:57 PM Its just 4 cds, besides its not like they make you need 6 discs like ut2k4 and the upcoming halflife 2 will require tkmaster234 10-06-2004, 01:59 PM and another thing as much as you would think to believe not everyone has a dvd player installed... and there are people who wont get one because they feel its completely unnecessary... look if sierra did decide to release it only on wone type of medium then it will be a medium that everyone could use... which is the cd format Phantom 10-06-2004, 02:04 PM Geez. There are some who don't have a CD drive. So make it floppy? No because floppy disks suck. So do CDs. Get over it. tkmaster234 10-06-2004, 02:07 PM actually all computers that is even able to run the game will have at least a cdrom... and besides if the computer has winxp, you have a cdrom drive... as you can only get winxp on a cd do you see winxp on floppy discs anywhere?? another thing.... look its not like you have to install 32 cds worth of data its just 4,,,, that is another reason why arguing over 4 cds is plain stupid... look if you want to buy the game your going to have to accept the fact that it will be released in whatever foprm the company wants to release it in.... i know it sucks not having a dvd version... but complaining over 4 cds is just plain stupid... would you rather prefer them release the game on 3472222223 floppies? Phantom 10-06-2004, 02:08 PM actually all computers that is even able to run the game will have at least a cdrom... Replace the c with a dv in the last word and you are correct. tkmaster234 10-06-2004, 02:16 PM no... i have built my own computer.... it still has parts from even before the dvd rom even came out... i got a p4 2.4 512mb ram geforce 4 ti and guess what it still has a CD-ROM (which by chance is the one of the only 3 origional parts that came from my first computer build) the others is 2 hard drives, one at 6gb and one at 8gb i recently added a 20 gig a 40 gig and a 80 gig yes all computers sold prebui;lt will have a dvd rom... but computers that was built by the user actually may not have a dvd rom.. and right now i have more important things to do than get a dvd rom... and unless there is a law that requires people to install a dvd rom into their computers that will always be a possibility hell you can still buy new cd roms FantasticDamage 10-06-2004, 02:20 PM I don't have a DVD-ROM either, and I put my rig together last year. I've got a DVD player in the living room, what the hell do I need another one in my computer for? Apoc 10-06-2004, 02:43 PM I don't have a DVD rom, and i couldn't careless about DVD-ROMS for computers.. the only thing i'd buy is a DVD burner. enDless_Delirium 10-06-2004, 02:46 PM I don't have a DVD-ROM either, and I put my rig together last year. I've got a DVD player in the living room, what the hell do I need another one in my computer for? :signed: same here. If I had to, I'd probably buy one. But if not, I'll save my money for a better mobo/cpu/vidcard/RAM MagicFire 10-06-2004, 02:52 PM :nag: Because 4 CDs are effing annoying as hell. One DVD is easier to keep track of, easier to install with and faster to install with. Plus installing a DVD-ROM isn't rocket science. I could teach my 12 year old cousin to do it. Set the DVD-ROM as slave, plug in the power and IDE, boot up and you're good to go. Its like putting lego blocks together.Easier to keep track of? Maybe you need to clean your room, then go to Office Depot and buy a CD Valet. I've seen them as low as $3.99 at Wal-Mart. They cost much less that a DVD drive, don't require training, and they can hold your other games too! And, BTW, explain to us how annoying hell is again? EDIT: Oops.. http://i.walmart.com/i/icon/00/00/60/81/6081_195X40.gif $3.96 at Wal-Mart NAT Mav 10-06-2004, 03:02 PM Bottom line is that Sims2 and UT2K4 can afford to publish their games in 2 formats because they know they are going to get big sales numbers. T:V is a bit of a risk to begin with, and adding unnecessary production costs just isn't going to happen. Ordos 10-06-2004, 03:22 PM 4 CD's and they can't even afford to give me a friggin CD CASE for it! zVxTeflon 10-06-2004, 03:30 PM I don't have a DVD-ROM either, and I put my rig together last year. I've got a DVD player in the living room, what the hell do I need another one in my computer for? i had a cd player in my room before i had a comp with a cd-drive. its called progress you goddamn idiot. i mean jesus the game is more expensive than the dvd-drive. people like you are the reason the transition is so slow.
