So I'm wondering how you made the macrotexture on Emerald, with the roads. Did you start with that? Or is there a way to export a screen of the current terrain painting and use that to make a macrotexture?

Starting to try and get things looking good is harder than I thought, and you guys did a great job.

And how did you get that lightmap with all the trees and buildings cutout? I searched google for macrotextures unrealed but didn't find much and the new dev.tribalwar.com doesn't have anything..thanks.

I'm going to be working, when I get spare time, to enter as much info as I can into the dev.tribalwar database.

We used a program called WorldMachine to generate the terrains. It's also very good at generating basic macrotextures which we then painted up by hand, either in Photoshop or in the editor. Props to Alex B who is a master of macrotextures :)

The macrotextures tend to be 2048x2048 textures, whereas the terrains themselves are either 256x256 or 512x512.

This is for heightmaps?

So the workflow is generating terrain, then making it playable/skiable?

I've been playing with WorldMachine and it freaking rocks. There are a couple of user made Macros that you can download which do some really sweet things to your terrain. You can get an almost perfect Tribes terrain set up in WM and then all you have to do is import it into TribesEd & clean it up a little bit.

nope, the community has decided to look to the future, rather than revisiting the past.

Because the community, like an parade of Chinese patriots, acts with one mind and is unified of purpose.
