FPS with following specs?

Hey, what fps would i get on T:V running on Ultra High, 1024x768 resolution, for the following specs?

512 RAM (PC 3200)
Pentium 4 2.8ghz
Radeon 9700 Pro

on ultra high it would be unplayable

That's pretty close to what I've got here in the office... So it should run ok, but ultra-high might make it chug a bit.

dual opteron 250s
tyan mobo
2 gigs 3200 ram
dual 6800Ultra (SLI)


At 16x12 res, ultra high (annoying glow set to medium) and at 4aa/16af, i average about 150-200 fps.

a radeon 9700 pro is better, so why wouldnt it work better than 17 fps?

it would, unless you have a serious bottleneck somewhere that won't let you get antyhing about the 5200

you'll probably end up chugging. You have 2 bottlenecks, one the vid card. Far as I know you can't get 256 Meg 9700's.If you can, and you 9700 has 256 MB on it, than great.

The other bottleneck is your RAM. You can really tell the dif between 1 gig and 512 RAM. If you up the vid card you should be fine.

Just FYI, I have 1 gig RAM, P4 2.4 and a 9500 pro (128) and my copm can manage ultra high at 8x6. Though I do get some slowdown in heavy firefights. Ultra High is made for 256 MB and higher vid cards, smaller cards will suffer some slowdown.

between $480-$540 for the reputable online dealers. I bought both of mine from Circuit City.

it'd probably be worth it. Not sure how many AU dollars. Check some websites? Pricewatch.com newegg.com googlegear.com ?
