Nonie54 10-06-2004, 01:23 AM IGN review just got put up over at http://pc.ign.com/articles/554/554250p1.html
"Time will tell with regard to multiplayer and mod support. The single player experience alone is worth the price of admission. "
werd.
pyrot3chnic 10-06-2004, 01:29 AM Hell yea, nice. Good sign.
Jelly 10-06-2004, 01:32 AM sweet
Devo_N 10-06-2004, 01:35 AM I hate to sound pessimisteic, but, uh, the single player will NOT be worth the price of admission. The single player will be at bet a tiny diversion, the appetizer of what I (we) hope is a 7-course meal.
Tribes is all about the multi, which lasted for years and years with both previous iterations. To give a score for the game based on the single player pretty much completely misses the point. Its almost as if he said "the voice acting alone is worth the price of admission".
Rev_Night 10-06-2004, 01:37 AM t1 got a 9.3 and t2 got an 8.9
mc-fine 10-06-2004, 01:40 AM Beta and demo have already made it painfully obvious the multiplay is great. Only negative is map selection is not varied enough in terms of size/base design.
pyrot3chnic 10-06-2004, 01:42 AM We'll be back soon with an update on how the multiplayer side of Tribes: Vengeance is shaping up. Even so, the single player experience and the potential inherent in the multiplayer side of the game make this a game action fans cannot pass by.
Let's give them a good show with some t1-caliber matches. That goes for both TCS and TWL.. hell maybe even CAL.
LivinDeath 10-06-2004, 02:13 AM What a completely stupid article!
Obviously a new player who reviewed it.
Things like 'but the water didnt' seem to affect our speed at all'
and
'the chaingun now does more damage'
etc etc
add in the usual 'we love big map', and 'no indoor fortresses'.. and you get the picture.
Thrax Panda 10-06-2004, 02:53 AM And the fact that their opinion differs from yours makes it invalid how?
Even I can't believe I wrote that...
LostDuck 10-06-2004, 02:57 AM Obviously a new player who reviewed it.
Good. A NEW player reviewed it and liked it. That sounds very good to me in fact.
enDless_Delirium 10-06-2004, 03:33 AM Good. A NEW player reviewed it and liked it. That sounds very good to me in fact.

Don't knock good reviews. You want to bitch about a stupid reviewer when he gives a game you know is good a 5. Go ahead. But don't bitch when a good game gets a good score just because he makes some silly little calls.
Vengeance was made to bring in new people, I would hope that most websites/magazines would have new players review it. Vets already love the game, more likely to get an unbiased review from someone who is new to the series.
Osiris 10-06-2004, 03:35 AM haha dumbass
LivinDeath 10-06-2004, 04:05 AM Hey im all for the grade he gave (well should have been more like 9.3 but whatever).. The facts he gives are of course in certain places *wrong* which is why im pointing out that it is a bad review.
I mean come on, he thinks that since vehicles are no longer bought, that it means that they are going to become a camping zone.. Precisely 3 minutes in MP refutes that easily.
Emilee 10-06-2004, 04:28 AM I was playing with a IGN guy on some server, he was actually pretty good. This was several weeks ago in the beta, so someone has spent some time in multi.
Da_Timsta 10-06-2004, 05:19 AM edit: im an idiot, nm
Wiggle! 10-06-2004, 08:11 AM nothin wrong with 9/10. they haven't even seen tribes vengeance multiplayer at best.
tkmaster234 10-06-2004, 08:43 AM getting good reviews is a good sign...
especially over 9.0
im not one to take all reviews too seriously but i do find that the reviews tend not to be far off to what i truely think it would be...
i am now looking forward to getting vengeance even more

now if i remember my tribes 2 days even the vehicle spawn points were also campable if you do it right..
i remember being fragged many times when i was standing on the vehicle pad

I've played with many developers being a developer and all and i expect to be having a clan match against them some time (I hope) they r all pretty good and no all the tricks one of them (i cant remember his name) is probaly the best bb'er i'ver ever seen :| was annoying the hell out of me :P. anyway http://www.bittah.com/servercentral/tv/ are the server they would probaly be playing if they do.
menes 10-06-2004, 09:55 AM The Average review go like this:
Score: ~86
Highs: Single player game, balanced weapon load outs, Open bases that prevent hiding in your base.
Lows: Fewer packs, no more beacons, larger models.
Final words: The game series has come a long way from its origins. While, I don't believe it is as good as the original, it is still a great game, and a worthy successor.
