GhostMan 10-02-2004, 12:47 PM T2>T1>T:V
In this case newer is definitely not better.
Sort of like old spidey comics versus new :)
Different, but definitely not better
T2 will run 4ever!
You actually thing t1 is greater than T:V..man your a fool of fools.I rather play T:V @ 5 fps than play t1 ever again. :moxdance:
Fugitive 10-02-2004, 01:07 PM *Some stuff about GTW*
I was just thinking about GTW last night. If it weren't for the lack of determination on the part of the devs, that mod could have gone places. As it stood, the player base wasn't nearly big enough for the sheer scale of the mod itself.
I can only hope a similar incarnation shows up in Vengeance.
Krymson 10-02-2004, 01:24 PM pppft, I did think anyone played t1, at all anymore. T2, if they haven't already ended, are still finishing up the ladders. The one thing I like about T2 was that you could still get decent gameplay with a mediocre machine. TV is really sucksup the resources...
But just curious, what specifically about T:V is no good? And is it just a comparisson to T2, tribes, or FPS games in general?
Celios 10-02-2004, 01:29 PM T2 comp started dying a long time ago. It finally went completely as soon as open beta hit.
Krymson 10-02-2004, 01:30 PM I can only hope a similar incarnation shows up in Vengeance.
I agree, Fugitive. I would be willing to bet, (especially if you read about all the crap from the haters) that there will a large number of mods created. I believe that was the single biggest thing they incorporated from T2. Oh, and you thought the number of maps in T2 was big? With the release of TribesEd, I guarantee that number will triple at least. Which means more maps in comp and pub rotations...and unless you are dedicated to hating this game, it will be interesting to see what develops.

T2 hit around 1800 completed custom maps altogether (a number of them being in actuality map packs with easily 5-30 maps each, meaning even more than the 1800 I named.)
Seeing how TribesEd is inherently far more difficult and time consuming, I think it's absurd to expect it to reach T2's mark easily, let alone triple it.

Ill still boot it up and go take a look at that old mod .
Fly around in my new maps getting them ready for the masses that never come. Man that mod was cool. I still have it I saved that mod from the recyclebin and worked on it for like two years (Im simple)to make it work for the patch. So much stratgegy lost (and spelling bees).
We are not that far off. The rover is a good spawn point (Mobil) Its all real close really just need those epic maps of old.
And Im working on it.
:)

Good luck, the T:V engine can't handle it. Unless you like -10 fps and insane amounts of lag.
Mr.Sleep 10-02-2004, 02:57 PM I'm starting to not like T:V so much. Lag and and other network problems; stacked teams (been on both sides of that issue); tkers we can't get rid of; and it seems to play allot like a ut2k3 ctf map with a few twists.
One person can rape the hell out of base as a light with the right loadout - that's just effing ghey. Going from the beta to the demo seems to have made the game balance worse - IMO. yeah, there are some nice bug fixes, but so what in the grand scheme of things. If I want to play a fast as hell game, I'll can play UT.
Too bad T:V didn't evolve from T2 with better graphics, a refined engine and better physics :( I said the same thing with the T1->T2 transition, but with T2 it got more fun as time went on, the opposite is happening for me with T:V :(
There, I feel better now ;)

:baby: You mean were stuck playing in these little boxes forever?
Meaning also that when we get better rigs later on ,the "Engine" is the choke?
The insane heightmap sizes never make it to market so to speak? (Ive heard 2048X2048 is that true?)
Well crap
that sucks
Im Tranfering TV back to T2 :)
Those maps OMG those maps.
:baby: :baby:
Coylter 10-02-2004, 03:34 PM Dont worry ut engine can handle map as big as t2 and further.

And thats where they missed the boat.
T2 was innovative.
T:V is just an outdoor version of UT with jetpacks.
T:V can't possibly have a T2 feel cause it would make it too HARD for the slow learners.
Sort of like comparing a new Celeron to a Xeon-MP. Some users will swear they don't feel a difference. :)
Or maybe the power puff girls to the fantastic four.
Cant be done.
Different markets. ;)

Yea but Im guessing youve never seen GTW maps that was what was so cool when you joined...
:jawdrop:
T2 can do THIS? Holy shizbot Batman!
Then you feel ripped off by other maps it has ruined me for life(what little bit I have left Im turning into a forum whore)
Where as ZOD Im guessing has seen them (albeit not ruined for life) knows more in his little finger than I learned throughout T1 and T2.
