I use the arrow keys and its a pain in the butt to reach across the my keyboard everytime to get a loadout. Is there a way to change the loadout letters ( A, Q, W, S, ect) to something near the other side of the keyboard? Im sure im not the only one who uses the arrow keys. Maybe i am? hehe

Your not the only one... but your one of the rare.

Seriously... with edsf or wasd... you have so many more options as to key mapings. You have that entire left side of the keyboard... plus you can reach all the voice chat keys realy easily. I guess they kinda figured that would be the loadout everyone uses.

I'd either switch to a letter loadout, or wait... because I haven't heard anything about a way to change those bindings.

I know there's a way and I don't know how.

What I'm looking into right now is similar kind of. I want to be able to set keybinds per voice commands (so I can map out N S E W on the numpad with 1 keypress). It uses a similar system, but it's hard to figure out what does what without any documentation.

Just change the key binds in your loadout.ini

I transfered mine to the numeric keypad, altho the letters it says to press are wrong when u change it, it does work tho

qwe = 789
asd = 456
zxc = 123

I also seperated quickchat / loadout key. I use enter as my zoom cycle and also as my loadout key modifier with the pipe command in my user.ini file

ie. Enter=cycleZoomLevel | Button bLoadoutSelection

now i just hold enter and press numpad7 which would be the same as the default shift - Q
You just have to make sure 'NUMLOCK' key is ON for the numpad to work properly in TV.

heres my numpad loadout if u wanna look/use..

If you goto D:\Program Files\VUGames\Tribes Vengeance MP Demo\Content\System you will find a file called LoadoutMenu.ini

Remove the read only state - goto properties -> uncheck read only -> apply.

... stuff cut out above

[Loadout1]
loadoutSlotIndex=0
keyBinding=IK_M

[Loadout2]
loadoutSlotIndex=1
keyBinding=IK_N

[Loadout3]
loadoutSlotIndex=2
keyBinding=IK_B

[Loadout4]
loadoutSlotIndex=3
keyBinding=IK_L

[Loadout5]
loadoutSlotIndex=4
keyBinding=IK_K

[Loadout6]
loadoutSlotIndex=5
keyBinding=IK_J

[Loadout7]
loadoutSlotIndex=6
keyBinding=IK_H

[Loadout8]
loadoutSlotIndex=7
keyBinding=IK_P

[Loadout9]
loadoutSlotIndex=8
keyBinding=IK_O

[Loadout10]
loadoutSlotIndex=9
keyBinding=IK_I

...

Change the letters highlit in orange. I wasn't able to use "> < ' : } {" keys. I have bound the quick loadout key to "/". "/" + any of the letters is an easy reach.

Remeber to reset the state to 'read only' when done saving.

Im an arrow key user too and I have it set similiar except I have the loadout activation bound to uparrow, so I can walk in/out supafast :)

Up=MoveForward | Button bLoadoutSelection

or for the crooked walkers:

Right=StrafeRight | Button bLoadoutSelection
Left=StrafeLeft | Button bLoadoutSelection

If you wanted to bind your loadouts to the numbpad would you set it to like keybind=ik numb1 or whatever

Another thing I hate is how it uses the e "same as default for grenades" so when I walk up to an inv real fast and try to loadout every once in a while I accidently grenade myself.

So you go forward onto an inventory pad and because you are pushing 'up' the quick loadout just appears? If so that is really neat.

Basically, I am already holding forward/sideways to get to the inv, then press whatever loadout 1/4 second before I touch the inv to get loadout. Better than holding down shift...I bet a non-hardcore gamer chose that way. Fck, I need that extra .6 seconds!!
