I think every1 with an x800 Pro has their fps cut in half. Every1 else I haven't seen a pattern since they list different cards. x800 Pro seems to be the most consistent one :\ PLZ FIX. T:V suppose to be rockin with ATI :( Looks more like nvidia is.
Yes I have a x800 pro 256, and I have tried the 4.8 Omega's, the 4.9 Omega's and ATI's 4.9 cats and they all have the same problem. Sporadic FPS counts (can range from 60-100 staring at the same thing) and when players move into view it drops dramatically to 30-40 fps. I never had this problem with the last version of the beta, which was a constant, smooth 80-85 fps.
Gnome 10-04-2004, 06:30 PM Also changing the Detail level in game seems to have little or no effect on the fps. At Ultra-High it is bad and at Low/Off its just as bad.
Lots of ppl having the same problem.
I have the same problem with 6800 gt
In base 100fps staring at fixed objects
Moving ingame 60-80fps
Any Sort of action drops between 30 and 40 fps sometimes into the 20's
ingame graphic settings from ultra high to low have no effect on the fps drops. Also different resolutions from 600x800 to 1600x1200
have also tried all the different ini tweak settings to try to increase graphic performance nothing works.
This is not system issue i have come to believe. Its a game issue and needs to be resolved. TV has way to many performance issues to be being released tommorrow.
P.S. My system runs all the other games i play and games on the same engine smooth as glass.

Sterling 10-04-2004, 06:37 PM Sterling, you are REALLY shooting yourself in the foot with that video card. Paring the fastest CPU out, with last gens budget card is.. meh.
The only time I get slow down, is in Cavern. Which is ok by me, cause I dont like the map. I play 1280x1024 2xAA/4xAF. All settings set to high, except Fog which is Ultra-High. Hardware 3D sound as well. I like the sounds.
3400+@3800+
1gig ram
6800 GT@Ultra+
Oh, yes I know, but it's temporary (9700 Pro died slowly). Can't buy a new video card after plunkin down for an FX. Good that I didn't though, as now im Nvidia bound! :king:
black label 10-04-2004, 06:50 PM This is my system,
Athlon 2600+@2380
1 gig of 2.5 cas ram 2.5-3-3-7
74 gig rapture hard drive
My video card was an ati 9700 pro.The ati settings were, everything on high and fog on ultra high.I averaged 70 fps sometimes 80,and around 50 with alot of action.I went out and bought a bfg overclocked 6800 gt 256 meg card. With the same settings i get 30 to 40 fps average and with heavy action i get 25 to 30.I have reformated ,tried everything.
I play any other game,farcry,doom3 on full settings without a fps problem.Btw i dont have any aa turned on.When i do turn it on its a joke,it stutters like mad in TV.That folks is a really bad net code.

Yup,me too.Low settings dont change fps.
everyone needs to quit trying to fix there sytems there is nothing wrong with them. everyone is in the same situation.
For the most part. its a game issue and needs to be resolved by the devs. You ppl have great systems and i bet anything they run great in other games that use the same engine. Just sucks that this game is being released in this state. It may never get better who knows.

We can still do as many things as we can think of on the off chance that there is something we can do to fix it.
wow Fool ya I'm getting and was getting the same exact fps as you :[]
i concur, fps needs +++ in retail
Yes i agree but i have come to the conclusion that there is nothing we can do. Ive tried everything imaginable myself. From what im reading in the forums eveyone else has also. I could see it maybe being a personal sytem issue if there where not so many ppl posting with so many types of video cards from high end to low end Nvidia and ati cards. With pretty much the exact same issue.
Magus 10-04-2004, 07:19 PM my system runs fine. but i hate ultra settings
-ivan 10-04-2004, 07:19 PM I get a slight increase in FPS in the demo over the last beta version. The lowest I dip to is 40 (heavy action, 24 person server). Overall is feels more steady for me.

WerTicus 10-04-2004, 08:29 PM im running the x800 and although i never benched it i dont believe i have taken a hit as great as going from 80 to 40... seems to play just as smoothly as before...
but as always when its first loaded the textures are still coming across the bus and thats a bit slow but then when all the textures are in the 256mb card she runs sweet... :)
Athlon XP Barton 2500+ @ 2.0ghz
Abit NF7-S
Radeon 9800pro 128mb
2x256 of Corsair DDR3200 CAS3
its much much smoother overall but there is still choppyness at the start of each map

Prio, I have the EXACT setup as you (except I've added another 256 of ram and I only have a FX5200 card). I'm about to buy a 9800pro and was wondering what kind of difference I will see. Since we have the exact same setup, could you post your settings and what fps you're getting?
*Side note*
If you changed the bios setting on your NF7-S to XP3200 then you should be clocking about 2.2 Ghz. Did you use a different method?
Witch 10-05-2004, 04:28 AM With:
1.2GHz Thunderbird
768Mb SDRAM
GeForce4 Ti4800 SEGS
I got huge fps boost from beta. Could've been partially netcode too of course.
Could this be something that Nvidia users are getting much better FPS now and ATI users getting worse FPS due some changes in the demo?
jahman 10-05-2004, 09:02 AM i saw this thread and thought, whew, its not just me...
i was running open beta just fine, i think all settings were high, and a few UH. loaded demo, and holy shazbot, WTF happened.
and it seems its not an ati 9800 exclusive problem.
i dropped all settings to medium on 1024x768. no noticable effect. dropped everything to 800x600 and medium. still noticed choppiness, lag. wow.
i then went to nvidia to get latest drivers. that actually seemed to help. i know my drivers werent that old, but after reinstalling latest video drivers, performance definitely went up, but im thinking not quite up to what the performance i was getting in beta.
i cant remember which video card i have - will edit, heres my system:
amd 2100+
nvidia GF4 4600 ti
512M corsair
sb audigy
a very cool post from the devs would be one that listed which video settings 'cost' the most', and which the least, so you could leave as many at UH as you could, and only turn down the most expensive ones.

That's not as easy as it sounds, because the most expensive options will vary depending on your system. If your processor is crap and your videocard a monster, higher resolution will be 'free' for example.
I'm on:
P4 2.8
512mb RDRAM
9700pro cat 4.9's
Audigy 2
XP SP2
If anything demo runs a bit better for me than beta.
Something completely random you guys with problems could try, load in a window and see if its any different. The "-windowed" switch will apparently load in a window.
