there was a tribes 1 admin mod that had this ability. it rarely worked. most often it just ended up pising everyone off.
pubs are pubs for the most part they suck.
Broken record, man.

wasnt looking for a reply dude. merely stating what i now for a fact. something like this has exsisted and it wasnt very useful in practice.

Simply stating that you are a brain dead MFer that couldn't catch a clue if it was stappled to your forhead, maybe.
Look twerp, Pubs are the life blood of Tribes.
If a good gaming experiance can't be had in pub games, the game fails. Less than 10% of players will be involved in competitive matches.
What this game doesn't need is a bunch of fook-tard like you stinking up pub games by being an uber lamer twink that thinks he's got some special right to life because he spends too much goddamned time playing a fricken video game.
Now Shut yer flipping pie hole. It's impossible for you to make yourself look any stupider, so why bother?

Well then I will have to learn from previous mistakes and do it better.
Because most pubs in the past have sucked does not mean all pubs in the future must suck. I simply want to find ways to maximize the number of non-suck pubs in T:V. If this is threatening to you, as if most pubs become good then the 'eliteness' of playing matches is lessened, then I apologize in advance. If not, then I apologize for implying that it was. :)

wow. you're a dipshazbot.
BitRaiser 09-28-2004, 03:58 PM Meh... felt good to flame someone and that guy needed a little toasting.
I'll return to rationality now.
Promise. ;)
Polaris 09-28-2004, 04:01 PM I did dig the "stapled to your forehead" part.
Bridude 09-28-2004, 04:06 PM Broken record, man.
wouldn't a scratched record be better? I mean come on, A broken record would only play like once.
ParoxysM 09-28-2004, 04:07 PM I like switching teams after I setup the turrents...then HO on my setup.

Yer welcome, then!
Something that really does get under my skin is people whining about how baddly pubs suck and that only loosers play in them. The simple fact is that without good pub play, Tribes will go nowhere. It's the casual gamer market that will make or break this game financially. And where do causual gamers play?
Right! In pubs!!
So if you've got a bunch of social rejects complaining off at the mouth because they are part of the uber-l33t TWthing, at casual gamers in Demo pubs, what's going to happen?
That casual game is more than likely to say Eff this and walk away.
SO, it's this elitist attitude that so many folks seem to make them "cool" (for reasons WAY beyond my understanding) can infact kill the very project they are so elitist about!
WaTTz! 09-28-2004, 04:12 PM Guyz on the first page of this thread were trying to justify the teams lol.
How can you justify a team stack that results in 30 and 0!!!!
And for your information, serveral people on the uber team SWITCHED to that team early on. They had a 2 man advantage for about 3 or 4 minutes until one of the lesser players on their team left.

Yes, Pubs are the most important part of any game. I think the "elitists" have gotten what they want, so why not buff pub play?
MaD_ReBeL 09-28-2004, 04:23 PM oh, ive been flamed. woe is me!
pubs suck. i play them but here is the difference. i expect nothing more than killing in a pub. i expect no teamwork nor any semblence of organized play.
in the rare case that the pub turns out not to suck its even better because its an unexpected result. the other night in team fusion's server there was a great 5 or so map run where it was a lot of fun. mostly old vets playing too imagine that ;).
further, there are many people who have never played tribes before trying out the demo. these people ahve less of a clue than the tribes2 llamas.
youre expecting way to much.
please dont flame me, i cant take it.
BitRaiser 09-28-2004, 04:25 PM I've never seen anyone work so hard to seem so stupid... outside the Whitehouse, that is.

in order to change pub play you have to code in limitations that force people to play a ceretain way. that is what was attempted in tribes2 base and it sucked the life/fun out of the game.
pub play depends entirely on the participants. if pub play sucks, the first thing you may want to change is your own style of play because that is all you have direct control over.
after that you have few choices. you can ask people nicely to even the teams (rarely happens) or hope for nazi admins to even the teams and or kick players.
in the past the nazi admin tactics have worked the best.

Why not have the game shuffle teams after every map rotation....
There are no solutions unless you are looking for them. I sense you have given up.

like i said before, shuffling doesnt do anything. shuffling has been around in the past sometimes it worked ok most often it didnt.
people play however they feel like playing. you cant force people to play how you think they should play. people also drop from the server for whatever reason they also switch sides to play with their friends. thats just how things work.
