ideas to make T:V run faster early in the map.

My game runs silky smooth the majority of time. However I really suffer in the first few minutes of the game. Lag, stutters, framerate going haywire. I notice it especially on Isle. Not to mention I never see the countdown, things just load really slow for some reason on my sys.

P4 2.8, 512 megs of Ram, Rad9800 pro

Im pretty sure its not my gfx settings as lowering the res doesn't seem to do the trick.. Is it memory? Any tricks to help with this problem in particular?

Turn your anti-virus autoscan off during game play. Slows your pc way down cause files are constantly being read (and scanned).

It's just your system loading everything into memory.

Also, I bumped my memory over a gig. I had 512 when I started playing beta. The memory upgrade made a huge difference on how smooth the game runs.

My system specs are P4, 3 Ghz, 1.5 gig, Env5950

I have an identical system and had the same problem. What you need to do is pick up some more ram. Trust me. I had 512 and just today added a matched gig. It made all the difference. I now average 12-13 seconds left on the counter when the map cycles, wheras before i only had about 2-3.

I have a similar issue, as well as my performance degrading steadily until the game's a slideshow by the end of a map. It seems like a leak, but I havn't seen anyone else mention anything about performance slowing during a map like this.

Uhm, isn't there a memcache setting that should be changed?

1gig ram, faster hard drive(s) - 2 cheap SATA's striped works well.

Sure, so you could spend 80 to 200 bux, or you could try to change a setting in the mp.ini file...hmm...which should they try first? ;) ;)
