Amadeus 09-27-2004, 05:30 PM What kinda framerates do you get? I have almost the same system with a GeForce 4600-Ti and am thinking about upgrading my gfx card.
I also may upgrade my CPU a bit, but my bus is at 266 since my friggen ram is unstable at 333 so I don't know if upgrading the CPU would be worth it.
It runs smooth enough, at least for me (note that I could bare to play T1 on a 350 MHz comp for months). Tbh, I have no idea how good that vid card is, I've been out of the loop for years and only bought the 9600 XT because that was the most expensive that I could still afford. :p
ricky_dodge 09-27-2004, 05:30 PM $0.00
{A} PR24 09-27-2004, 05:31 PM Alot of these posts are starting to sound like those Master Card commercials..
CPU - $600
MEM - $500
T:V - $50
3 Years of TW Forum Flaming and IRC Trash Talking... Priceless!

Arcanox 09-27-2004, 05:36 PM 400 bucks on the video card, 200 on new ram and mobo... prolly annother 200 for proc and some new cooling shazbot.
[PIRON]Sezaru 09-27-2004, 05:41 PM About $2000 on a new laptop that's better than my desktop. (Which, it turns out, isn't very good.) All I've got is an ATIm9600, XP and an AMDmAthlon 64.

Chaol 09-27-2004, 06:18 PM 9800 pro 128 - $160
Waiting a couple weeks for mobo/cpu combo, appx $200
Waiting a couple weeks for 512mb 3200 - appx $90
T:V $50
$500. Wow. That number looks far higher than I'd originally anticipated :(.
RompeR 09-27-2004, 06:32 PM 50k
T:V preorder - $50
I bought a new system about 6 months ago and it is more than enough for T:V. I played all of T2 on an ancient p600 + GF2, and I played all of T1 on a p200 + Canopus Pure 3D (Voodoo 1). Finally, this time around I have a decent system for this damn tribes game.

It always does
WorstAim 09-27-2004, 06:41 PM This is something I have always thought about. I always think, man, it would be nice to play T:V in ultra high mode @ 1024 x 684 or whatever it is, but then I think, is it really worth $300+ to play a $50 game? While its a very fun game, don't get me wrong, I don't think its worth $350 to play a game. But then again, I am a jew, so its hard for me to spend money.

I play at 1280x1024 on Ultra high and personally I can say ,yes it's worth the money. Having great eye candy while still having loads of performance is by far one of the coolest things about gaming.

You get the New AMD FX-53?
$392 for Nvidia 6800GT 256mb DDR3 from NewEgg.
Well for T:V and of course a few other games like D3 and HL2.
Because of 'new' technologies coming out at once, I probably won't do any serious overhaul upgrades to my PC until there is pleanty of price-reducing competition in the market re: offerings like PCIe, 10k SATA drives, WINxp64bit release, DDR2 etc. I just can't afford to be an early adopter.
°Gn0m3_Gr0wN° 09-27-2004, 07:09 PM nothing, medium detail is just fine, waving grass and trees aren't that important, but if they added shrubberies...
bigmannie 09-27-2004, 07:10 PM i was on the same PC since T1, so I just went out and built a new one... $1900 later...
