I could of course thank everyone who's had congratulations so far, because you have been in the vast majority, but I have another "Thank you" which is slightly more important.

Thank you, who have vented your concerns, your disbelief, your misunderstandings and your criticism. It's all very well recieved. Nothing good has ever come from back-patting alone, and though the critical voices have been many and loud, I should tell you that no concern you have brought up has been a surprise to the two of us.

You were just faced with this situation as a post on an internet forum. To you it's all hypothetical, something you can turn around in your heads and wonder about at several degrees removed, unknowns filled in by imagination, or remaining unknowns. Me and Akela, to us it's not a hypothetical situation or a situation someone else is in which we can analyse and try to figure out based on what we think we know. We're living in it. We've lived in it for two yeras and we have had all the concerns you've mentioned, and more. We've figured out ways around all the problems, or we have decided that there are problems we would rather live with than live without, because of the alternative...

Sure as hell it's going to be difficult to grow old together - because we aren't going to. I am going to go from physical youth to middle age, and Akela is going to go from middle age into old age. Yes, we know that. Yes, we can deal with it.

Same thing with death. Neither one of us fears death, and I for one consider it one of the rare and therefore precious constants in life, while Akela sees it like something of an old friend. We don't fear it, and so you can't exactly scare or gross us out over the fact that one of us is going to die long before the other -- if we are lucky.

The age thing. If we hadn't already been attracted to each other already, we wouldn't be having this discussion today. You can't gross us out over the fact that we're different ages, because we're the ones who know, and you are not. People are individuals.. not numbers. At least we're not, to each other. If someone of a certain age has an automatic tie to someone else of the same age and Akela is "basically almost" my mother, well.. do you have any sisters? Ever fucked someone your sister's age? Were you fucking your sister while you were doing it? Probably not. Right?


And lastly, I would like to thank Gigafool, Aesstis and drones. You people are always quick to call someone an attention whore, or suggest that everyone else is just looking for attention. Well, I suppose that means you think that attention is somehow a precious desirable commodity and so... like you would thank a neighbor's retarded kid for bringing you precious fetid mud for your birthday, I suppose we should thank you for giving us all this attention, the precious commodity you were so eagerly giving us in brimful cups.

While I can't say that no matter how sexy/interesting a gal I met (assuming I wasn't already married) I would marry her regardless of her age, I can say that people's harping on the issue like it was their god-given right is, in true TW fashion, blown mind-bogglingly out of proportion. 40+ pages of what?
