Come on, people. Be honest :)

(Colossus, could you turn this into a real poll for me please? ;))

I don't think this is how we should have to log bugs anyway. Making your 'beta' community do all the legwork to see what has and has not been fixed isn't right, IMO.

I do.

Btw I suggested an auto search on new thread feature, but it never got anywhere. It would be good though if the new thread's title would go through a filter of the most common words (inventory, flag, lockup etc.)

I do, but I've only posted one bug report. The rest of the stuff I found is OFN.

Hey Irritant, if this is bothering you guys, why dont you post a known list of bugs? Its not that hard to do.

I do.
Whether folks search or not, most that go through the effort to submit a bug report are still just trying to offer at a minimum a bit of help due to their interest in the game.
I would be interested in knowing how the game is progressing bugwise and in general.

Uh, then what is the point of having an open beta exactly?

Feel free not to report bugs you find. We can't make you.

Guys, this was meant as a good-natured dig, not a flame. Everyone's been doing a great job helping find and squash bugs. It's when I read for the nth time a post which starts "I searched but didn't find anything" for a bug that has been reported again and again that I begin to wonder... ;)

Having said that, I'd rather have a bug reported ten times than not have it reported at all.

The beta is for finding and killing bugs, that's the point. To test the game on as wide a spectrum of hardware and software as possible, something that would be impossible to do in the office. We haven't posted a list of fixed or know bugs because a) it would be a lot more work than you might think and b) the search forum is supposed to act like a bug list, i.e. if you see it's been posted and the thread locked or otherwise acknowledged then you know we're working on it.

Then we'd get into the whole thing where people would make suppositions based on what bugs were apparently reported as fixed and which ones weren't as to the direction the project is going, which would likely be inaccurate...

Keep up the good work guys. Everyone who has reported a bug, known or not, has provided us with a great service.

Cheers,

i have for all the bugs i've posted, and none have been posted before. but they easily could have and I would have missed them due to poor boolean logic in the search term.

imo its not an efficient way to track bugs, at least from our end.

I've only found one thing that I hadn't read about before - the tank invulnerability. Searched for it and found a previous thread which I added my comments to.

So yeah, I search before posting.

Due to the 45 second delay on successive searches I normally just search once.

very little i would guess, maybe 20 percent?

forums interface isn't good for bug tracking which is why i suggested a bugtracker way back before fp open beta ;)

flyspray takes seconds to set up!

A lot of people probably don’t search, but the problem is compounded by the different syntax that could be used. For example, I might describe a bug as “became invulnerable and invincible” while another user might refer to the same bug as “omg god mode hm4 wtf”. Searching for a particular bug would only be effective if I had the good fortune to use the same terminology as a previous reporter.

I search when I find something, but it can be a pain in the ass with the search delay. I agree with the need for a known bugs list. It took me some digging to search for a few of the bugs I found.

can you tell us what you HAVE fixed?
Or what you have changed?

to keep the hype going?

Should never have used forums anyway, mantis/bugzilla all the way.

I know I searched before each. I expect a lot of people figure what they're doing is valuable and don't think they really need to bother trying to find a previous post on the subject. It might actually work out better if there was a separate forum exclusively for the bug report threads so the most recent can be quickly and easily browsed without the myriad other TT threads amongst them. Could also include a sticky with a somewhat categorized list of confirmed / acknowledged bugs that people could just scan.
