anything else burns. why the hell not? and you could just say the burner heats up the cable to the point it snaps.

well it is plasma right? not just regular fire....so i guess it would burn through metal.

they should also make it so a certain amount of damage on the grapple itself disengages the grapple completeing the same effect

I think that "close-enough" hits to the anchor point of an active grapple should cause it to disengage. Got folks grappling on cavern? Toss a spinfusor their way and they fall down go boom.

I agree.

It's metal, and it's plasma. The burner should be able to melt it or expand it so much that it just loses it's swinging effect, it'll be friggin liquid.

Nope, ammo is a simple fix, anything else would take creativity.

grapples are made of metalIf I'm not mistaken so are generators, inventory stations, and the very power-armor worn by the tribal warriors.

Actually you're all wrong. The grappler rope is made of a synthetic mono-molecular wires composed primarily of....

yeah anyways, I dont think realism matters much. As long as it's fun, people won't mind. (Like them teleporting flags, return to base when you touch them)

EVERYTHING BURNS, all is okay.

Devs have said collision detection on the grapple line is not going to happen.

On the connection point is possible, but not the actual line itself.

Deal with that. :)

Meanwhile, I don't get the problem with grapplers...I mean, a player dies just as dead when hanging from a grappler as when not. A grappled player is seriously limiting their mobility...a good counter is actually the sniper rifle IME.

Note: in cavern I like to play MD with the grappler and burner. Yes, I'm a swinger. :)

Edit: note that I'm talking about "ceiling huggers" here...obviously players can be very mobile using the grappler, I just assumed that isn't what's being discussed here...

since the spinfusor does explosive damage...it should make craters on the ground too.

god, i dont even want to think about the resources it would take to have something like geomod(for red faction in case you didnt know) in tribes, with everyone having a disc as their primary weapon, the map would be swiss cheese in the end, and laggy as a mofo

but it would be cool anyway(except for the effed up skiing)

Imagine the bandwidth required to update every client in the game every time a grenade, mortar, disk, or other explosive device altered the terrain. The server would have to compute the change and then pass on the details every time. Now imagine that it won't happen..
