Why is there no effing capout limits? Games start getting very depressing when the score is 10+ - 0.... people tend to give up in similar cases.

Dud 09-13-2004, 10:27 AM because its beta Polaris 09-13-2004, 10:29 AM Tribes is one of the few games that I know of that ever had a cap out. I will say that I have seen several 18-15 or 21-19 matches on emerald that I would have hated to see end at 10 caps. Maybe a 8 or 10 cap mercy rule is in order? GoD-Chry 09-13-2004, 10:34 AM I think they should change the cap limits to not be a solid number that you have to get, but a solid number between the two teams. For instance, on emerald, a super fast map, perhaps the capout difference would be 10. So 10-0 = capout. So does 14-4.. But a game that 12-8 would continue until they get 10 ahead or time runs out. lpszText 09-13-2004, 10:50 AM I think they should change the cap limits to not be a solid number that you have to get, but a solid number between the two teams. This is a very interesting solution to the problem. It would also add a degree of anxiety to the game in many cases. Pubbing being the majority, capouts are a must if you want to keep players. It's just not fun to be on a team where you're constantly being slaughtered and the score that reflects it causes many players to just give up and exit the game. Pachacutec 09-13-2004, 11:55 AM seen 33-2 wondering what ppl find it fun to play in those... its best when the capper running the routes for the winning score taunts too, as a true testament to their skill. Helado 09-13-2004, 12:37 PM its best when the capper running the routes for the winning score taunts too, as a true testament to their skill. You need to add while your down 3 players. Bridude 09-13-2004, 12:45 PM what 22 to 2 on 5150 doesn't thrill and excite you? I love to see peeps say gg's after that also. .footloose. 09-13-2004, 01:31 PM I like being on the losing end of a 20-0 and pretending it was super fun. dunce_boy 09-13-2004, 01:49 PM I think they should change the cap limits to not be a solid number that you have to get, but a solid number between the two teams. Too confusing...just set cap limit higher on smaller maps like emerald. A 12 capout limit would be fine on emerald and Cavern I think. 8 or 6 would be good for WL and isle I think. But a game that 12-8 would continue until they get 10 ahead or time runs out. that seem like a good idea: the first tribe to get ten caps ahed of the other team; so if its 8 - 14, then the other team still needs to score 4 more to win. .footloose. 09-13-2004, 01:53 PM It's really not as confusing as some people are making it sound.. it's a 10 point mercy rule just like Polaris said. Everyone knows what a mercy rule is. Father Ruckus 09-13-2004, 03:07 PM cappers bragging is kinda a joke anyways, its not exactly hard to cap in T:V. ParoxysM 09-13-2004, 03:47 PM I dont see how both teams can cap like 20x... lpszText 09-13-2004, 07:27 PM Can anyone from DEV respond to this? BadMoFo 09-13-2004, 07:29 PM It's just not fun to be on a team where you're constantly being slaughtered and the score that reflects it causes many players to just give up and exit the game. thats why I switch to the losing team unless its close. Apoc 09-13-2004, 09:21 PM Too confusing???? tell me what's confusing in a 10 cap mercy rule? lpszText 09-13-2004, 11:14 PM IrritAnt, why won't you respond to threads like this? I'll make it even easier on your poor little dev. fingers. Multiple-choice(I'm sure you remember these from school). 1. Yes, we are planning on implementing capouts in time for release. 2. No, why would we want to implement capouts? Then you could actually compare one tiny aspect of T:V to T1 & T2. Type 1 or 2 in your reply. Thanks for your time. | ||
