cheap gameplay°Gn0m3_Gr0wN° 09-13-2004, 03:13 PM then id say have fun getting owned in matches due to you not wanting to spend 3 seconds to deal with the 'problem' mc-fine 09-13-2004, 03:16 PM Correct me i am wrong but isn't turtling an issue with map design? And isn't turtling and o-sniping something that has been present in past Tribes games? Polaris 09-13-2004, 03:17 PM no one is complaining about matches. we have been accepting turtling and o-sniping and such as acceptable in matches for over 5 years. However, OK in matches does not equate to fun in pubs. Psyman911 09-13-2004, 03:18 PM then id say have fun getting owned in matches due to you not wanting to spend 3 seconds to deal with the 'problem' :bigthumb: Psyman911 09-13-2004, 03:19 PM but y not play a pub like a match? (isht, dub-post...sorry.) Polaris 09-13-2004, 03:22 PM but y not play a pub like a match? Because we dont have to. Because we can go to servers where this sort of thing is restricted. Because there is a huge contingent of people who want pub play - our RELAXATION time - to be low on stress and free of annyong crap. The fact that we want to play the game with different rules than you do just means we will pub on different servers. How is this such a major concern. Blotter 09-13-2004, 03:25 PM but y not play a pub like a match? (isht, dub-post...sorry.) ahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahah Psyman911 09-13-2004, 03:25 PM its not a concern. i just think that my non-match time is practice for my matches. Polaris 09-13-2004, 03:41 PM its not a concern. i just think that my non-match time is practice for my matches. We have "practice time" for that. Practice during practice. Match during match time. Pub during pub time. Baub 09-13-2004, 03:52 PM Pubbing isnt that great of practice for matches even if people are allowed to turtle. It's easy to have an effective turtle without a coordinated D, breaking one is nigh impossible without a cooridinated effort by the O. If you think the average pub is anywhere near as coordinated as a match, you havent played on a ladder. Turtling on pubs sucks ass. It sucks in matches too, but it's a necessary tactic. Pubs are NOT matches. Psyman911 09-13-2004, 04:23 PM duh. im just saying that i see all my down time as practice; whether im actually at practice or in a pub with other people Overseer 09-13-2004, 04:36 PM It's funny, when I first heard about the grappler in T:V I praised the idea, thinking this was a revolution for Tribes gameplay. Now that I've seen it in action I hate it, cheapest tool ever. Of course it's mostly on Cavern where this crap happends - worst map in the beta without a doubt, a good reason to find another server. holy shazbot stfu and learn to aim. If you cant hit someone gappling (especially when they're just swinging about in circles) then you need to find a game without verticle movement. Stick to call of duty. I hate when people with no skill complain about shazbot that really isnt that hard. Secondly the "fighter" (pod thing) is easy to take out, especially with the rocket pod. If it's chasing a capper he should be able to outrun it easily, the thing has a short ass range and isnt that fast moving unless you're skiing it down a hill (in which case it cant really fire accurately anyway). The only thing that it's tough on are slow moving players, high flying players that hang in the air for an extended duration and omg he can spam the flagstand.. well so can lights mediums and heavies, and disks/mortars do a lot more dammage do your health as well as direction than one of those little rockets.. Osnipeing is lame ONLY if the person has a shot on the inventorys and is snipeing people who stop and try to use the inv. Those of you who bitch about somoene snipeing your HOF and LD need to get over it. "OMG someone o-sniped me while I was standing still using my command map to know exactly when their cappers are coming in! Kick him because I'm a whiney bitch" Well dont effing stand still. O snipeing LD is a great way to distract for your cappers. If you're one of those noobs who lets people distract you from defending the flag, then you deserve what you have coming to you. BLuE_ZeRO 09-13-2004, 04:46 PM One of the perks of playing LD is you have to come to expect that people are going to try and kill you any number of ways. You can't expect to just sit on your flag stand and block cappers uncontested. Sorry that's not how it works, doesn't matter how much you want to be able to do it. The tricky part is to be able to do your job as a LD while people are trying to kill you. I know it's crazy to think that it should be difficult to play LD but you're just going to have to deal with it. Overseer 09-13-2004, 04:47 PM OMG Someone with an ounce of common sense ;p BLuE_ZeRO 09-13-2004, 04:48 PM Yeah people tell me that sometimes. Very rarely but it has happened once or twice. KryandArturo 09-13-2004, 04:49 PM Video games are supposed to be fun. Most of the people who pick up T:V will be playing it just for fun, and not even play competitively. They may decide to join a team and play competitively eventually, but if every time they play online they have to deal with shazbot that makes the game not fun, they will simply quit and play something else. Probably about 9/10ths of anyone who will play T:V will hate having to deal with that shazbot... if you aren't one of them, then fine, go play on your newbie server with no rules, and stop trying to say that all other servers should be like that. BLuE_ZeRO 09-13-2004, 04:53 PM The game can be fun but at the same time it can be difficult. Why try to make the game anymore easy than it already is? People complain about the lack of a learning curve in this game as opposed to the two previous tribes so why make it even more easy? By just making the game fun for people at the expense of actual skill you promote stupidity among players. They never fully learn how to play a certain position because that's now they're used to playing it in "good pubs". Pfft w/e KryandArturo 09-13-2004, 04:57 PM Yeah, well if they aren't going to play competitively then why do they need to learn how to play the positions? If they decide along the line that they want to compete, then they can join a team and learn how to play positions properly from their team and from scrims. Blotter 09-13-2004, 05:02 PM holy shazbot stfu and learn to aim. If you cant hit someone gappling (especially when they're just swinging about in circles) then you need to find a game without verticle movement. Stick to call of duty. hey newbie, u dont know what ure talking about Hurricane Harold 09-13-2004, 05:07 PM hey newbie, u dont know what ure talking about True. I can grapple and epack like nuts and will hardly ever be hit (certainly not critically). The biggest threat to grapplers is probably the burner, or slightly less so the chaingun. However, if they're fast they can easily escape the burner's short range, and the energy drain limits chasers as well. Seems very cheap, might just be that all the tactics havn't been discovered and whatnot. Grapple-hanging is odd. The person can go around in circles and avoids the ground-splash-damage that sometimes turns a fight. However, burner works well here unless the person is really high up, as they havn't a large area to move around in. Discs aren't too hard to utilize either, since the person's path is predictable. That is, unless they're clever and move when they are shot at. Then it gets weird. O-Sniping is lame in pubs during a non-turtling flag standoff because it's dishonorable, and will so lead to turtling. Simple as that. Doing it while someone is at an inv is pretty bad as well. Otherwise, they're not usually hard to stop as several snipers are crappy duelists. | ||
