aKIDwithDOWNs 09-08-2004, 08:09 PM I find this as a pleasant suprise, because T:V runs VERY slow on my Laptop (I get a Stedy 19 FPS (AFTER TWEAKING))
But I find myself playing VERY well, I adapted to Skiing and the rest of the new Physics Fairly quickly; AND I am getting at least 10 or more "MA's" per match.
I am a T1 Vet (Was in the Beta) and am a (Somewhat) T2 Vet.
T1 took me a long time to Master the MA, T2 was a little quicker for me.
But man, Im not talking about these MA's you get when your dueling some guy up close, Im getting Ma's on Doods REALLY far away trying to run with the flag!
Im just guesing there is a HUGE "Hit box" that makes it super easy?
Just my 0.2
Siward 09-08-2004, 08:10 PM I'm glad you decided to throw in your twenty cents.
Spiderman 09-08-2004, 08:10 PM Probably because the people you played with sucked. Honest.

True, but with the Situations compaired to T1 or T2, it seems ALOT easier.
Hurricane Harold 09-08-2004, 08:13 PM You're not that good, but yes it seems easier. Not too too much I don't think, especially if the people have any skill at dodging.
Zxqv8 09-08-2004, 08:30 PM It probably has something to do with the discs being so easy to see.
Scuzzle 09-08-2004, 08:38 PM You can't really compare T:V MAing to T1 MAing.
First off, it may seem that it was such an easy thing to master because you were able to start doing them the first time you fired the game up. This would have been true for T1 if it weren't for one major thing: Broadband. If you remember, since you were a T1 vet, noone was trying to MA anything for the first TWO years of T1, because broadband was practically non-existant for home users. Then, when everyone and their mom started getting Roadrunner Cable Modem, everyone could hit an MA... 10 times a game.
It is a LITTLE easier in T:V, but not that much easier... because it was always easy.
{A} PR24 09-08-2004, 08:39 PM MA's are easier compaired to T1 and T2.
°Gn0m3_Gr0wN° 09-08-2004, 08:41 PM disk is too slow, needs to be a tad faster so you dont have to lead half your screen
Laokin 09-08-2004, 08:44 PM Actually if you wanna know the real reason. Tribes 2 for example, say your moving pretty quick, and you fire a disc to the left. It has momentum in both directions, forward and to the left where you shot it. Pretty much if you shoot a disc to you left moving fast and stopped moving, you would watch the disc drift insanely far to the right. ( I don't remember how dramatic this effect was in T1. ) In T:V, the effect is still there, just NO WHERE NEEEEEEEEEEAR as drastic. They don't slide far at all. Resulting in a more "accurate" disc.
Atleast thats the reason I blame the easier MA's in T:V. It's the only noticable difference with the disc, beside the obvious speed and acceleration changes, wich have nothing to do with your shot, but everything to do with your timing.
Also, there really isn't much of dodging you can do to a disc. If the shooter has anyskill at predicting human patterns, he should shoot the disc where he thinks your gonna go, and you should fly right into is, as being if you move after the disc is fired you have no time to dodge. (atleast from semi close distance.)
Laokin
we're all in armor that makes us look like homosexual transformers or bloated semi trucks, so yeah MA's are easier
kwolf 09-08-2004, 08:58 PM A lot more people are playing mediums, so that might explain some of it.
ZephyrFox 09-08-2004, 09:04 PM Registering MAs is ridiculously easy. Wait for someone to jet toward you while jetting next to/above a structure and aim for the structure. 9/10 times the splash on the target will give you an MA.
Breadman86 09-08-2004, 09:50 PM The first day or so of the beta I gto MAs like crazy... but now I'm practically never getting them. It's very odd. It gets harder the more you play, lol.
Ropponmatsu 09-08-2004, 10:02 PM Actually MA's are bugged, half the time I nail a guy in the air with a disc it never registers, not even any damage. I think hitting a disc on a nearby object and having the splash damage register as a MA is a bug as well...
-A- ...Lost? 09-08-2004, 10:04 PM its a real physics logic. not a nerfed one.
its an engine made for competition. i bet the Epic engine programmers wouldnt even know HOW NOT to make a gun not go precisely where you aim it... neither did Frohnmayer... thats maybe why he and his team walked out on Georgeson and Dynamix.
The garagegames Torque engine, essentially the Tribes2 engine as Mark wanted it, is rock-solid stable and Mid-air shots are remarkably "simple" as well...

Might be prediction code server side thinking you got the MA.. but when all the data is added up server side... things do not add up.
Actually MA's are bugged, half the time I nail a guy in the air with a disc it never registers, not even any damage....
This happens way too often. (Usually when you need the MA the most. Several times I've MA'd a flag carrier in the back and its a no-regester.)
I'd say 1 in 3 MAs are no-reg.
This could use some improvement.
Nagorak 09-08-2004, 10:21 PM It's the new physics. You can't dodge in the air worth a damn, and the weapons don't take on as much momentum and are way easier to aim. The game has been dumbed down to hell.
