Wow, lots of overreacting going on in here.

Only way to make sure you can always catch cheaters is by serverside packet capturing/analyzing and things like the screenshot request system found in PB. Hoping something like that gets included in T:V so we won't have to live with the constant whining and witchhunts about cheating. Skill counts for less(or nothing) if there's always suspicions about cheats.. :|

osGb]i don't stop HelioS because I do not wish to and quite frankly, being in the same group as him and stopping his projects wouldn't be quite fair now would it?

You associate with someone who designs and codes cheats and you DARE to attempt to legitimize this relationship based on "fairness"?

Just come right out and say it: "I just don't care about other people at all, only about my personal experience."

thats the god honest truth :]

but then again, you would be the minority if you thought otherwise on that subject.

Why is everyone so surprised?

"Cheats in an online game!!! Ohs nos!

Cheats= :grimreape !!!11

Me not buy this game!"

There are cheats for almost every online game if not every single one. Why are people acting like this is something new? What games do you buy these days then if you don't want any with cheats?

this 12 page thread is just feeding the UT jerks.

I do excuse you, you are right making cheats is not the most productive thing a person could do with their time..Don't bother listening to anything Tajora says, he can barely write a batch file, his only real skill being social engineering. Any "proof of concept" code he has on his site is most likely stolen from somebody else.

I did read it, and I agreed. :p It's a huge issue that can totally ruin a game, so it can be said a million times.

T:V has a chance to be a cheat free game(yes solid measures do exist), and I'm sure the dev crew realise how much time and frustration they will spare so many players and admins over the next few years if they just take the time to include some real protection.

I don't know why I feel I even need to say this, but don't bother with patches that target exploits directly, especially not clientside, because there'll be workarounds for sure. You need passive dynamic protection. Basically you only need three things: 1) Master servers that run integrity checks(md5sums etc) on servers. 2) Screenshot taken on client and sent internally to an admin upon request. 3) Same as 2) but with recordings(for cheats you don't see in a still image, like speedhacks or autoaim). Preferably done serverside with packet capturing.

This together with active admins and hard punishments would make this game and its community so unique and attractive to so many frustrated players from all the other cheatinfested games.

Actually this works both ways...

If they ARE the same person... why didn't he bother? (Answer: because he might screw up and post as the wrong person...)

And if they aren't... hmm dunno on this one.

PLZ DONT HAX)R ME!!!!!111onehundreadelev en

the reason i didnt create an account is because im lazy

also i like to read the general discussion area ;o

and no, tajora and I arent the same person - as others have said before, he most certainly does not know what I know, look at my sources, he knows he can't hold a candle to them...

quite frankly I dont care what a tribes community thinks about me, as I come from UT and dont care if you a) have my ip, b) ban me c) etc...

I'm just here because the devs who made T:V made the piss poor mistake of using the unreal engine - (wouldnt that make sense? me being from UT originally and all...)

Seeing how it would take you less time to register an account than to post about being lazy, I don't buy into that explanation :p
