T:V bugs and releasing updated beta

This goes out to the guys at IG.

Will we be able to update our beta with something more recent once some of the severe bugs (ie. the hard freezing the computer) and other bugs get fixed?

This would give us, beta testers, the chance to test the fixes, as well as try and find new bugs to be fixed before the game ships.

If we won't get to update our beta copy, how will you know for sure that most of the bugs are squashed? Or even if there aren't new ones?

Frequent updates of the beta will help everyone out in the long run.

it's not like they can't test the fixes themselves...

True they can test the fixes, however, there is a wider variety of hardware configurations out here than they have in their office.

It would make sense to release updated beta files for us to test with. If not, then this is the demo and not a beta.

They're fixing the bugs you find now, so they'll all be fixed in release.

Its still a beta, you just don't get the next version until october :(

So we have the demo. :)

I would think with the more serious bug(s), the computer freezing bug in particular, IG/VU would want to release a newer beta so some of the new beta folks, the ones who are installing now and within the next week, won't get too upset about their computer freezing.

I only mention this, b/c I work with some people who are avid gamers, and they will view this beta as the final product and will make their purchasing decision based on their experience. Once they encounter the computer freeze bug, or any other bug, they will pretty much say forget this game, they aren't getting my money.

Many people are skeptical about TV, and first impressions, especially coming from IG/VU should be lasting ones, and the people who are installing now and experiencing these bugs, that's their first impression, no matter if the devs say "we fixed it in the final release".

Even if this is considered the "demo" and not beta, most developers released updated demo's when bugs were found. Q3 had a couple demo/beta updates, and most if not all versions of UT had a demo update to fix serious bugs.

How difficult would it be for the devs to allow us to update via the ingame, or download a patch? A small token to the gaming community would go along way when it comes to us spending our hard earned money on the game.

VUG is pretty much in for the money. They only care about the game as long as it sells.

Yeah, especially with VU's astounding QA.
