krustyy 09-05-2004, 05:03 PM I posted this message about 10 mins ago but I accidently posted it in General discussion so I got 5 people talking about Al Gore and got shuffled off the first page. Oops!
Anyways. . .
I started up a T:V dedicated server and was looking through all the advanced options and came across a gore level setting. Seeing as how I am a human being, I will naturally be more entertained by seeing lots of blood and guts so I was wondering what settings I can enter in the gore level field and how it will affect the game.
Anyone know? I went and set it to 255 and am about to run in and see if it does anything different.
GB.Arkady 09-05-2004, 05:04 PM hmmm
i wanna see armors explode when my mortar kills em
Dangerdoggie 09-05-2004, 05:10 PM I would wager that it does nothing and is just a carry over from being based on the unreal engine.
Still, think of the comic potential for seeing blood spraying from one of those pin wheeling, out of control, freshly killed players. It's disapointing that point blank mortar kills don't cause players to explode anymore.
I posted in your thread. Me too Arkady, but it seems none of these new games where the physics engine takes over after a player's been killed allow for such things.
krustyy 09-05-2004, 05:21 PM Indeed, a giant ball of flesh randomly spitting out blood according to the objects it collides with was exactly what I would hope the gore level does.
Perhaps, if irrational manages the impossible feat of completely finishing the product before the release date, they can add some rag doll-esque entrails and body parts. Finish it off with some red mist and puddles and we just might get some angry moms to protest and, therefore, cause more people to buy the game.
Dangerdoggie 09-05-2004, 05:27 PM Not a chance, rated T for Teen E for Everyone. Might be something that could be modded into the game though, replace that useless knife weapon with a chainsaw while we're at it.
Arcanox 09-05-2004, 05:32 PM I think a good SPLAT gore transformation is in order.

There's a reason they got this rating. Graphic depictions of blood and gore risk a:

Clamchop 09-05-2004, 06:00 PM I really would have liked to see the little chunks happen when LA gets blown up by a mortar though. I always liked seeing that in T2 and it was still able to maintain a T rating.
Ceiling_Fan 09-05-2004, 06:18 PM One of the things I have liked best about the Tribes series is that there is NO GORE. "Gibs" are retarded.
SpidershocK 09-05-2004, 07:09 PM Mr. Fan is correct.
Skarrde 09-05-2004, 07:50 PM Ok heres the thing. If you go into the mp.ini file you can set the gore lvl there for urself. No all this says is that you can have low gore and very low gore set to true. In other words the gore you get in the game is the default and all you can do is lower the amount so...sorry but you can't have blood shooting out of objects and some such nonsense.
slogg 09-05-2004, 08:09 PM tribes dosent involve gore, it has class (much like how the Bond movies never really show blood)
having blood guts and gore would just be lame, it aint that kinda game
Egonomics 09-05-2004, 08:28 PM I think the jetting rag dolls are reward enough.
Mooley 09-05-2004, 08:35 PM Flying body parts after a mortar explosion would be great. It doesn't have to be bloody.
IrritAnt 09-05-2004, 08:39 PM Sorry guys, no gore :) The only reason it has a T rating is 'cause there's a little bit of blood in the single player storyline.
Mr.Sleep 09-05-2004, 08:45 PM One of the things I have liked best about the Tribes series is that there is NO GORE. "Gibs" are retarded.
I Agree!!! Play DoomIII if you want gore....
Mooley 09-05-2004, 09:33 PM :mecry:
Turin 09-06-2004, 03:17 AM I personally like the fact they leave gore out for the most part. I mean if you want realism and gore then when theres a kill nearby you should have to unsuit clean your visor of blood splatter and then make a puke check to prevent hurling in your suit and being incapacitated for 30-45 seconds.
