I LOVE Tribes:V

I got a chance to play it a bit today, and I REALLY like it. I even like it better than Tribes I!!

I finally found out how to kill those pesky pods, and I have scored a few MAs, and killed quite a few lost souls and cappers...

The skiing feels right, the weapons feel right, and the vehicles feel right. I get lag on some servers - but it's lag, not the game. I have already been on servers where I haven't lagged ONCE - so I am convinced the netcode is good.

Everytime I have been stuck in one place, it has been lag - so I think most of the bugs are starting to be worked out.

I admit - I was a skeptic - but I'm quickly becoming a believer... :)

someone's playing on a fixed server for the deadstops.

Great to see you around Spec, you gonna be reviving the DTM along with your return to enD?

Man, what games were you playing prior to this to have all of these facets feeling "right"? I'm undecided about T:V, I think I like it... I'm just trying to determine if it's going to have the same longevity as previous Tribes games for me. But it definitely isn't going to feel "right" for me for another couple of months, I think.

As for the DTM - no need to revive it, it just needs to be awoken out of it's deep, dark slumber. I've been there for over a week, and have seen that there is STILL activity there, though the vital signs are pretty weak at this point...

First time I tried it I was very freaked out. I was currently sending someone the install package over ICQ at the time so I couldn't restart with DX 9c. I had a shazbotty fog distance shazbotty FPS, and the controls are very different from what I'm used to. Overall the aiming was choppy etc...

After I rebooted, and Dx9c came into effect I was getting decent framerates for once, and I was able to up the viewing distance. I fixed the controls, and got annother stick of ram. The game works well, I have not had a crash since I made those changes. I did some tweaks and get 45 fps on medium, with bump mapping and fogging set to high, even on my POS computer. I never got frames like that with T2, so I'm pretty impressed. While the netcode needs optimisation, I ping around 140 on my clan server (I'm in canada and the server is in texas :( ) ,I don't get very much visible lag at all.

Once I fixed the controls to something that resembled T2 (I always use the A key for zooming), I felt even more at home. After playing a bit on Emerald, and Isle, I started getting into capping, and I never find myself using the medium armor... the light acctually does exactly what it's supposed to. With better air control, better skiing, higher jetting I soon realised that this was the Tribes that I've always wanted but never was. Now it exisits, and all I want is more maps, and more opprotunities.

I can't wait for SP either, even though it's going to be a semi tutorial. I don't see how it can be bad with gameplay and control like this!
