I think the knife should give kickback to the enemy. Like the shocklance.

ugl....I said use the knife to fend off the enemy long enough to make a fast break....not go on a murderous rampage throughout the enemy base with it. Did you read my post?

I'm sorry but have you ever played T:V? Who the hell would be intimidated by someone wielding a force blade? "ooooo watch out I'm gonna knife ya!" Yeah ok well when you're trying to fend me off with your knife to make your quick getaway I'm going to kill you with a disc or a chaingun. The knife might be intimidating if it was like the size of a broadsword or something but it's not so it's not. The knife is good for one thing and that's giving the person who's about to kill you something more to laugh at.

If they wanted to make it worth using (which they don't but whatever) they should make it like the knife in CS. The knife in counterstrike was useful because you could actually kill someone or at least hit people consistantly. The force blade has too many drawbacks to be even considered useful. It deals little damage, draws too much energy and it's damn near impossible to actually hit someone when they're even slightly moving.

personally, since you've gone to the trouble of putting it in there, why not at least make it slightly useful.

Even if it did 50 damage, it would still be really hard to use. Then at least there could be a possible reason for using it. Many people I know who have got the beta and have not been reading up on the game have been very disappointed to find out the knife is completely useless.

Blue_Zero, it takes 1/3 of a light's total health, which isn't insignificant. 1/4 of a medium. 1/8 of a heavy. It's not hard to hit things with it, you just need some work with it. It does more damage per hit than the CS knife, but "fires" more slowly. It is, in fact, exactly what we wanted it to be, which is very specifically NOT the shocklance.

You can try to play off the knife as a partially useful tool, but it'll never be used. It may make a few memorable moments but ultimately it's a worthless item. No one is fooling anyone on this subject.

ie very specifically worthless.....

the idea of a "fall back weapon" in MP is ridiculous on the face of it, you have several weapon choices that are energy dependant so they cant "run out of ammo"

therefor why a "fall back"??

removing the SL is a judgement call, it fit my style of play very well (as well as my midfield partners style) for busting the annoying mortar spam jugs in the hiney, but oh well, a lot of ppl whined about it, so I'm not to shocked to see it removed

if there is a use for the blade in SP, fine (99% chance I'll never play SP, I play for competition), but why give us something in MP that literally has no use?

thrax, make it kill a light in two hits

what have you got to lose, really?

It wont damage game balance in any way, but it will make knife kills potentially viable, and I don't see how that can possibly be a bad thing.

I don't see why it should take 8 stabs to kill a heavy.

Should be :

Light : 2 stabs
Medium : 3 Stabs
Heavy : 5 Stabs

The CS knife had two methods of attack. Slash and stab. The decent refire rate or whatever you want to call it made it a useful weapon. It didn't have any drawbacks like a rather high energy draw which made it a good tool. When you're trying to evade someone and use the force blade you run out of energy fast even with the epack. If anything reduce the knife energy draw. If you're flying you might be able to get one stab and that's it. You don't have enough energy to dodge a disc and manage another hit.

Granted I'm making a bit of a big deal about something as irrelevant as the force blade but it doesn't alter the fact that it is indeed a useless weapon.

uh I hated T2. A knife that does damage at really short range != insta kill shocklance that also has knockback effect

why is that so difficult to understand?

a hydraulic plasma penis no doubt. make it knock back OR make it do 2x the damage it does now.
