WOW useless Gunz

well, my capper has grappler, buckler and rocketpod/burner as its loadout. and trust me, they arent useless. the rocketpod has a high learning curve, but once you have it, its quite good.

The buckler and grapple rock, the grapple you should pick up fairly fast in fact. The buckler will take more time but it has 3 purposes insted of a normal weapon's one: running into people, throwing, blocking shots. The throwing is definatly hard but I've found it to be quite useful at medium range where a disc probably wouldn't hit.

My personal jury is still out on the rocket pod.

I've been trying to figure out the rocket pod...can't seem to make as much use of it as I had hoped. I've tried to lead the target....tried different ranges....tried different speeds...tried it with the speed pack. It just doesn't seem as effective as I had thought it would be. Like someone else mentioned it seems pretty easy for the target to avoid it.

To all of you saying you have mastered the r.pod, could you please post a vid of it, its not that i doubt you at all, i just want to see it being used effectively so i can try and do the same. :)

I mean i can use it duelling (spam it then change to disc, rinse repeat), and to spam the flag stand (gl does this far better though and is easier to aim imho) as i come in, i've even managed to get a few over the hill and out of sight capper kills (more luck than skill), but other than that, i find it pretty meh, so im keen to see some other uses for it. Uses that another weapon can't do more easily and consistantly that is ;). IE. not videos of ppl hitting one shot out of 50 with it that someone with another weapon could do far more easily and regularily. :)

In case you can't tell i want to like this weapon, but everytime i use it i can't help but think, yeh it got the job done...eventually, but if i used "insert any other weapon here" i would of been able to do that more easily and with far more consistancy. :(

oddly, many of the best players tend to really use those 3 alot.

Buckler needs to do a tad bit more damage.

I find the grappler to be one of the most effiecient tools in the game. Offense or Defense.

For you LD out there guarding your flag, next time a capper comes in at Mach 2 ... try and grapple 'em :) A good time will be had by all. It takes a bit of practice, but I spent about 2 hours on each map using just the grappler on a privately hosted server, after that you won't be an expert with it but you'll be better than most.

The hardest thing about the grappler I think is.. remembering when you can actually use it. Like when skippette is blasting you from up on high with his fighter pod. Just remember to grapple the thing and the added weight will drag him down.

There's a whole bunch of scenarios where you just need to remember you actually have the grappler to use.

Couple days ago I was trying to cap against this trio of defenders on Emerald. 2 LD and a MD. Buckler guy kept tagging my ass and in the event that I grabbed the flag the LD were all over me with grenades in a hurry. I'd say the buckler is pretty effective in the right hands.

You guys dont use disc with capping?? WHAT ABOUT THE DISC JUMP??! HERETICS!!!

I find the mediocre boost from a disc jump isn't worth the damage you take in a light, especially if you need that health to make it past the maze of turrets or chaingun happy defenders. It's much easier to use the grappler on something release on apex, use epack, fire up jets until you can't see the ground any more and make your way back to the base, and grapple something on the way down to break your fall.

grappler buckler rocket pod sniper rifle and blaster could all use a little tweaking

zoolooman who was in the beta for a while now says the grappler was preivously more fun in the (04 patch i think he said)

blaster is slightly too weak

and i think the buckler could be sped up when u throw it, that or theres another way

Ive been playing beta now for several days and the three most useless guns to me are the rocket pod (POS), grappler, and the buckler. I hardly ever see anyone using any of these three weapons and when I do the people cant score any kills with any of these weapons. I seriously think that adding ammo to the grappler was a retarded idea and they should allow it to have infinite ammo. But anyways I have yet to see anyone whos good with either of these three weapons on any1 of the maps..

Learn to aim. the rocket pod isnt useless at all. Rocket pod is a great weopon. Just takes abit of practice. In cunjuction with a cg and disk its pretty vicious on defensive end.

Get on some of the better servers like Dualrock, Impulse East, Hell, Team Fusion, and some more, and you will see most if not all of these used pretty effectively.

FYI, Impulse East has been renamed to Kore East and is passworded for vets. People can get the password in irc #kore, or if you are a smart vets you can figure it out.

I can say I mastered buckler in less than 7 hours of playing time. All my friends whine on Ts2 when I get a buckler kill, they say it's cheap and noobish
