[Digital Camcorder] So help Me Decide...

I've used a lot of Sony's and i like them... the once ive used were like professional ones 2 grand+ so i dont plan on getting one of those..

my price range is about 400$ or less, or so. Im looking on sony.com right now and saw the: Digital8 Handycam Camcorder DCR-TRV260 349$, the Digital8 Handycam Camcorder DCR-TRV460 399$... the only difference i see is the price, and the "260/460" - trying to compate the two right now...
Both are Digital8's.

I think im looking for a miniDV, but it seems that they start @ 450 or so and go up... what's the difference between the D8's and the miniDV?

and of course, the hi8 brings up the rear... not sure if i want to step into the hi8 or not :-/

I will be using this for editing and such. when i get into 2nd semister i will be using it like mad in editing class.

Im looking @ pricewatch and newegg and i came here to get suggestions as to what i should look for and stay away from..

feel free to give me other brands and such...

i'm pretty much looking for something along the same lines price-wise..haven't done much research yet on the digital cams but hoping someone here knows what's good out there
