I went back to reply to this thread, but it was closed....:(

So I thought I'd create a new thread so I could thank IrritAnt for answering my question. :p

Sorry, I was talking at cross-purposes there...

Being able to see out of "the corner of your eye" and see IFFs is a bug, but it's a limitation of the engine, and most FPS engines. It's long since been logged but there really may not be anything we can do about it now. I'll ask one of the programmers to comment on this one.

ahhhh, thank you. That's why I can see people out of the corner of my eye! :p I try to avoid using this to my advantage, but sometimes it's just to easy to glance down to the side, looking further than straight ahead. As you can see from afex's drawing on page 1 of the above thread, because the fog line is a line perpendicular to your line of vision, if you point your line of vision away from your intended target, the perpendicular fog line of the engine stretches out further away from you than looking straight ahead.

The original comment I made about turning fog off was in regards to some cheat or hack that disables the fog - even if you were to turn off the visual effect of the fog (and your performance would probably suffer horrendously if you did) the in-built map fog limit would stop any actor beyond the fog line from being displayed.

Got it?

Yup! ;)

Thanks! :D
