Rockstar Psy 08-30-2004, 08:43 PM Its getting better each time I play it. Though a few things I dislike: The Pod (ugh...) & the map Cavern. :D pyrot3chnic 08-30-2004, 08:45 PM :bigthumb: (the anti-speed hack lock-ups get a bit annoying though..) Kray 08-30-2004, 08:46 PM Shuttery and choppy... It is a little choppy, but you can fix that by going into the Options, and making everything on low, or just making the water Low/Off. you have to mess with the options. I got it going where its finaly smooth. pyrot3chnic 08-30-2004, 08:47 PM 90-130 fps here... (200+ staring at a wall) Kray 08-30-2004, 08:48 PM lol Breadman86 08-30-2004, 08:49 PM 90-130 fps here... (200+ staring at a wall) i get about 30 looking at a wall. you bastard. blast of death 08-30-2004, 08:49 PM it's like pizza, when it's good, it's awesome; when it's ok, it's awesome. :ftard: pyrot3chnic 08-30-2004, 08:50 PM :roller: MurMur 08-30-2004, 08:59 PM Been playing Tribes V since Friday, for about 6 hours a day :) Things I like: 1. The body physics and movement 2. The skiing is pretty kool 3. I like the new inventory stations, its very fast resuping now 4. Graphics are nice and the game runs smooth with high settings 5. Deployable’s are nice and I like the new system for them. This I don't like: 1. The vehicles just don’t fit the game at all; the rover for example is just to fast and feels weird. Tank also is out of place, it feels real light and flighty. 2. Some of the sounds are just weak, like the mortar sound just doesn't have any punch to it. 3. Game feels more like a quake or ut type ctf game, I just don't feel the teamwork going on like I did in T2. 4. No vehicle pads. I hate waiting for like 2-3min just to team up with a friend in a tank. Really slows the game down and I find most of the time people go solo with them. 5. Flag system is confusing. I'm not sure if it's me or is it just impossible to tell who has the flag? Also there is no return time when flag is dropped. All in all it’s a great game with a lot of potential, but I think its main problems stem from the vehicles. Breadman86 08-30-2004, 09:01 PM 2. Also there is no return time when flag is dropped. Completely agree with both of these arguments... and I'd like to add my own: Mortar/Grenade trails currently blow in their current state. They definetly arn't visible enough or imposing enough. In t1/t2 I used to be able to see their trails coming out at me, and I was able to dodge it. Now they just arn't clear enough. pyrot3chnic 08-30-2004, 09:07 PM 5. Flag system is confusing. I'm not sure if it's me or is it just impossible to tell who has the flag? Also there is no return time when flag is dropped. Try using the radar and command map. You're not going to be spoon fed this time around. Can I get a hell no to flag IFFs?.. [/amen] I agree about the mortar, the sound/explosion could be a little more impressive, and that damn whistle needs to go. :/ Kray 08-30-2004, 09:24 PM Been playing Tribes V since Friday, for about 6 hours a day :) Things I like: 1. Yeah I feel the same way! stormslayer 08-30-2004, 09:31 PM Likes: 1) decent feel of engine -- seems more precise (firing, moving) than the UT games. Certainly better than early builds of Tribes 2. 2) once bugs are ironed out, I think the new inventory system is just fine. 3) I actually like the air vehicles (though not so much the ground). Personal pref I guess. The tank is a sloppy bouncing POS and the mobile base is a "let's spawn and get stuck so you have to suicide" trap. 4) netcode seems decent for a game at this point, assuming patches follow. Things I don't like: 1) random drops / crashes -- hopefully will be fixed. 2) maps seem small -- hopefully better / bigger maps will be released with full version, and this isn't an engine limitation. I'm tired of all the weenies saying "change your perceptions -- this is a different game!". No, it isn't. It's named Tribes for a reason: big maps. Strategic gameplay. If it isn't tribes, I'd rather be playing UT. 3) no huge buildings -- same as above. Be nice if some of the T1 maps were replicated, with huge, windy buildings and the flags inside them. Hopefully not an engine limitation. 4) THE DEAL BREAKER AT THIS POINT FOR ME: No territory style game play. Rabbit isn't as fun as the T1 game where you collect flags and have to drop them off to get points. Fuel is a mix of CTF and S&D, but isn't really all that. CTF is CTF. What Tribes always had and needs now is a territory game like Capture and Hold, or a BF1942 style play. I've polled my gaming group and none of us will jump onto T:V until there's something like this. Too many other competitors with solid CTF play. sd Kray 08-30-2004, 09:33 PM yeah I really don't like the Crashes/ Random Server Drops :\, but It will be fixed this comming Beta 06 Kray 08-31-2004, 12:07 AM :bump: Zio 08-31-2004, 12:32 AM You really don't wanna get me started on this topic... Overall, I start playing TV and I have a hard time stopping. Things I love about TV... Destroying either air vehicle with the disk, or better yet, knocking the player out of their vehicle, jumping into it in mid air and killing them with it as they hit the ground. Using Julia's voice and using the voicebind... "i'm tingling" Trying to deflect disks back at opponents with the buckler, or better yet, deflecting a disk back at an opponent while we are both in mid air and the disk MA'ing the opponent that shot it at me. I've done this once so far! Hitting a heavy (MA's) at least three times while he is up in the air, simultaneously. Because the bounceback of the disk is so strong now and MA's easier to pull off, this is now possible to pull off. And fun for the whole family! I can run Tribes Vengeance at 1024x768 with all the graphic settings set as high as they will go and the game plays flawlessly for me. At least 60FPS or better all the time. If you haven't looked at base assetts with all the graphic settings as high as they will go, you should, you are missing out on some really cool details such as snow on the tops of the winterlake bases, team logos and decals all over the place that you miss out on lower settings. Not to mention the max glow effect is REALLY cool. When your player spawns, the player model glows very brightly as if they are materializing. Things I dislike about TV... These are all obvious ones and will hopefully be ironed out before launch... The Rocket Pod and the inability to hit what it was meant to hit. Horizontal thrust needs a slight improvement.
