Oh and for all you idiots, T:V does not FEEL like UT2k4 as they use 2 completley different physics engines, UT used Karma, T:V uses Havok. Do your homework. Graphical style may look like UT -- A LITTLE BIT, but thats as far as the comparison goes. T:V is a replacement for "Tribes: Fast Attack" wich was aimed at smaller closer battles with little or no vehicles at all. The change in Deployables, was to speed up gameplay and the repair pack change, keeps a team with a raped base still in the game, Unlike any of the tribes games. If you were anygood with the spinfusor or the deadly blue frisbee of death, as i like to call it, would again be good with it in T:V, as it is very much like T2, but slowed down. Wich results in a harder to kill with disc.

Example:
New skiing is faster.
Faster players vs Slower disc.
Result -- More lead time, more skill required with the weapon.

So shut up, you just suck with it, and refuse to get good with it. (all of you who argue it sucks.)

As for the burner, it's only purpose in my book is as a defensive weapon. If you didn't suck with it you would agree. A light flies in to cap the flag, a Heavy pegs the flag on the stand with a burner shot. The light now is on fire, and his life is dramatically reduced. Any decent chaser should have 0 problems catching and killing him.
I havent tested this yet, but to the best of my knowledge if you peg a light dead on with a burner they are dead. That's a pretty defensive weapon considering most flag cappers like myself only cap in light armor.

The only thing I don't like in T:V is, you can skip off the water, but your blue plate specials can't anymore... :-( I miss it! It was pretty pointless but also pretty spiffy, and it was the first thing I checked for.

Verdict - T:V is very much exactly what the devs said it was gonna be, y'all liked it before, y'all complained about this and that and the other thing. but the truth betold, you just suck at it and refuse to get better. You people make me sick. I shall spit on your graves. I am done with my rant on this.

Yes, the feeling is the main point here. Problem is, no two human beings feel in exactly the same way. Thus, your logic is flawed.

Starsiege: Tribes is a game. Tribes 2 is a different game. Tribes: Vengeance is a very different game.

Stop comparing the three.

Your statement is true! There is only one flaw with it. All 3 of these games start with the word, TRIBES!

No matter how you slice it , there will always be comparisons to T1 &T2 for the simple fact they all share the same name. The people who do this comparing are not wrong, nor do they need to justify them selves. These people paid for the games and earned the right to compare them. This can be healthy if done with constructive criticism, not ranting.

All ya'll fools telling people to not share their opinion need 2 STFU!

So what if T:V has different physics. It still feels and plays like UT. No doubt about it! Just because they use different engines means jack if the results are the same, and they are.
I'm not saying thats a bad thing. Its just the fact, JACK!

Funny how the game is supposed to be pre-Tribes1/2, but the repair tool is more advanced than either supposedly later T1/T2.

The Rocket Pod sure is a pos compared to either. WTF happened to the rocketgun. Now it works like UT's rocket gun, not Tribes at all.

Anyways real Tribes fans were awaiting the Tribes-2 that we never got. Guess we'll have to wait while Sierra trys to consolidate the Tribes/UT/CS crowds with a greatly crippled T2=T:V.

Agree- I am tired of all these people getting on our case about problems we have with T:V. I keep saying it because its true, T:V is a fun game for an hour, but its not Tribes. They could accomplish the goal of making it Tribes and being fun for hours, just with a few simple adjustments. No they can't make everyone happy, but they should atleast make Tribes players happy. I don't know what game people have been playing that think this is a good Tribes game, because from my 5 to 6 years of Tribes playing I know that this is nothing like what I have been playing over the past two tribes games. If a few things were changed .. . . just a few, then that feeling would come back. I think its lazy to leave it to mods to do this for us.

T:V is not my cup of tea either but I will not sit here and say it sucks. They did and are doing a great job creating what they intended.

I understand the play style and reasons behind it. Just because I do not like it, I will not sit here and say OMG you ruined Tribes with this POS. No, it is a great game, just not one I will be playing. I can say that about plenty of AAA titles.

I started out playing T1 at a local LAN with the original [IE] crew years and years ago, and it's been my favorite game since. I bought T2 immediately and played it a lot, until it started to crash when it browsed for servers. I sustained myself with CS, UT2004, and WoW. I got a message to check this out as soon as it came out, and I've been playing it to death. The gameplay itself is sweet. KP really repped us well in there. I'm still getting used to the changes:

Where's my vehicle station? :hrm: Heh..

The main thing I'm struggling with is the keybindings at this point, but I'm sure I will be able to work it out so I'm comfortable again. Oh and I need a new video card cuz my Ti4600 is buckling.

Overall?

I can see SOME similarities with this and UT2004. SOME. It's obviously not the same game. This is much better. I think the new weapons are pretty sweet, even if I haven't found the appropriate use for them yet, and the vehicles are pretty cool too. That speed hack thing pissed me off but I realize that this beta is only weeks old, and it's a lot more stable than the Ut2004 beta was.

Conclusion:

Teh hawtness.
