I like the game but after playing it fairly solidly for many hours it is starting to feel disjoined, the graphics are very nice and the skiing is great but the iff is too small the vehicle physics are ordinary and viewing players moving looks strange when they are on the ground. Sometimes too much stuff is on the screen and you know nothing of what is going on. It's kinda difficult to explain but some bits don't feel right. I still like it but certain aspects are "off"

I'm with you Jodo, I don't expect everybody to like it, that would be foolish, but I'd like them to dislike it for a valid reason, and saying that it's just like UT with Jet packs is simply stupid. It shares no physics, no art, no weapons, etc... The only reason people say that is because it is a shooter and we started with the UT engine 30 months ago (before 2K3 even shipped).

If people don't like it, great, but I wish they'd come up with a real reason and not try to pin it on the engine we started with.

FYI, we do share some physics code with Max Payne (Havok) but nobody has said we're Max Payne with jet packs yet. :)

The UT with jetpacks analogy is valid not stupid, and refers to the notion that you are playing a basic slash and grab game in a small map with pretty graphics. The engine is irrelevant, its the "feel" and style people are alluding to. Others have echoed this view over in the Sierra TV forums. Calling any feedback stupid is just wrong, but then again we are in the TW forums, and it sadly is to be expected. One exception is Fuel and Onslaught for TV/UT respectively. These are games which force teamwork and are a great addition to either game, and are well suited to small to medium size maps. Kudos to the devs for Fuel.

News flash: forced teamwork = bad.

agreed, by "forced" I mean that its really hard to win without coordination, much like siege in T2, and onlsaught in UT. CTF is just easier to freelance, and for individuals to get the caps if they have good skills.

Then the word you're looking for is "encourage".

And I doubt that one very good player and a bunch of n00bs can beat a team of decent players in a CTF game if the other team is working together.

What should have happened is this.....

The dev team should have taken the good from T1 and T2 and combined it into T3. There are just way to many changes and the game is simply not as fun anymore. The old school air bases and huge ski hills were way more fun than TV. Rollercoaster is still my all time favorite map and it was simple. There is to much going on in TV and to much has changed. The game no longer has the T and T2 feel to it.

Also if your going to make a new game try to make things better no worse. The animations were so much better in T2. The voices were even better in T2 and the vehicles were MUCH more fun. I hardly see anyone using vehicles anymore. In T2 you would load up on vehicles, it was a blast!

Hmmmmm anyone for a game of T2??

Define what was good and bad. That's right, you can't. It's a lot easier from the balancing standpoint to build a whole new game from ground up than to take two very different games and merge them into a third one.

IMHO T:V rocks. That being said if they didn't change a thing I would be happy. If they changed one thing I would say have the inventory station atleast auto supply you your last loadout without any keypresses. Thats it.

1. because it bothers you.

2. because it bothers you

3. because it bothers you

4. I always hold out hope that signs of intelligent life may appear and thrive here, though its a dim hope.

5. not everyone here is a smacktard.

By any chance are you the one who pulled the fire alarm at the lan, or the one who was puking in the bathroom sink? Looked like some "brownies" coming backup.

This is the same thing that happened when T2 came out. There were those that knew right off the bat that it did not feel like tribes and the majority who mocked and were complete bungholes. “No you just haven’t played it long enough” “it’s a new game” blah blah blah. Now everyone agrees T2 sucked ass. Well the game feels like T2 in a different engine. Feel being the main word here. Strike two on the tribes series….. NEXT!

I would say nice try but well it wasn’t.

Right.

With all that in mind. There were lots of people who hated T2 and stuck with T1 as long as they could or played other games. Now there are T:V haters and they can stick with T1 or T2 or play other games, and there will be enough players to make up for it.

I think this edition of Tribes will prove to have the largest player base out of the three.
