I'm not going to flame someone for not liking it, but it's hard for me to understand. I have been enjoying this game from the second I got my hands on it and I plan to play it for quite a while.

Big Monkey 08-29-2004, 02:21 AM Include one button fast favs Thrax :) Thrax Panda 08-29-2004, 02:25 AM I'm not going to flame someone for not liking it, but it's hard for me to understand. I have been enjoying this game from the second I got my hands on it and I plan to play it for quite a while.I'm with you Jodo, I don't expect everybody to like it, that would be foolish, but I'd like them to dislike it for a valid reason, and saying that it's just like UT with Jet packs is simply stupid. It shares no physics, no art, no weapons, etc... The only reason people say that is because it is a shooter and we started with the UT engine 30 months ago (before 2K3 even shipped). If people don't like it, great, but I wish they'd come up with a real reason and not try to pin it on the engine we started with. FYI, we do share some physics code with Max Payne (Havok) but nobody has said we're Max Payne with jet packs yet. :) Thrax Panda 08-29-2004, 02:27 AM Big Minkey, <Shift>+A can't be that hard for you to hit. Perhaps I can suggest a remedial typing class for you? Search teh web for Mavis Beacon... ;) Big Monkey 08-29-2004, 02:34 AM Don't taunt me :( Actually I have it down pretty quick with my 5 button mouse and another key. Still I would prefer one button favs so I can use that mouse button for something else. xDauntless 08-29-2004, 03:01 AM Hah, nice one Duck. As for the differences between T:V and T2, the biggest change that I've noticed is map design and I'm pretty sure a lot of people are overlooking this when they talk about differences in gameplay/physics/feel of the game/etc. In the maps that are in the beta at least, there are no where near as many large rolling hills as there were in the Tribes 2 maps. Take Emerald for example. That map hardly has a hill on it. There are little dips and crevices here and there, but even these are chalk full of obstacles. Cavern is much the same. Compare these to the large hills and dips on maps like damnation, beggars run, or tombstone where there are large bowls and nearly infinite ski routes between bases. Finding routes on the T:V maps is much more difficult. This lack of good ski routes is particularly tough on LD's because they are unable to quickly build up speed from any spot around the flag to catch cappers that are already on a set route. I've found that if I don't nail a capper at the flag stand with a disc then my chances of catching him on his outbound route aren't very good. I guess this is a good thing to some extent since it will open up games more and make them more offensively oriented. I suspect that it might be too much though. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in competition play. -xDauntless[REV] dan-o2 08-29-2004, 03:33 AM I just wanna say how incredibly sweet max payne with jetpacks would be. Make it so, Thrax. Zxqv8 08-29-2004, 03:37 AM Sometimes I swear I'm the only person who likes Tribes, Tribes 2, AND Tribes: Vengeance. FFS, they're all clearly tribes, they all have something of that tribes feel. Why can't we appreciate the distinctiveness of each seperate game? JodoFett 08-29-2004, 04:04 AM I just wanna say how incredibly sweet max payne with jetpacks would be. Make it so, Thrax. I agree, Max Payne is sweet, but jetpacks and bullet time would just be INSANE! Dalmar 08-29-2004, 04:09 AM Sometimes I swear I'm the only person who likes Tribes, Tribes 2, AND Tribes: Vengeance. FFS, they're all clearly tribes, they all have something of that tribes feel. Why can't we appreciate the distinctiveness of each seperate game? I love 'em all as well. And I'll have to agree with you in regard to the appreciation toward their distinctiveness. :bigthumb: Nash 08-29-2004, 04:22 AM I like T:V. In fact, i like it ALOT. The only thing which annoys me is that my comp is as powerful as a hand-held calculator. :\ Amadeus 08-29-2004, 07:31 AM Big Minkey, <Shift>+A can't be that hard for you to hit. Perhaps I can suggest a remedial typing class for you? Search teh web for Mavis Beacon... ;) It's not that. It's that you have to press those keys every time you hit an inv. It would be nice to have at least an option for invos to remember what loadout you last selected and automatically buy it. People hate telling the computer to do the same thing over and over again. The same goes for selecting spawn locations. Fatal Move 08-29-2004, 07:47 AM I for one don't like having to use a "Ski Key" why? just using your jump button was fine , now you bring another key that u constantly have to use into the game with a billion keys being used already? Doesn't make any sense to me. Unless it's game engine related and there was no other way to implement it. I don't like using a SKI KEY, skiing was alot easier in t1 and t2 , just start going down hill and hit your jump key. This one feels like your on one of those wet -n-wild plastic slides in your backyard :) Could be i'm old school but it doesn't seem natural to slide down a slope like your on snow , when there isn't any. --Fatal p.s. Sorry don't mean to be to critical , just and old school anology. FIREARMS 08-29-2004, 07:48 AM I 3) Having a SKI key and not using the old method Kinda, there is a jump/ski key thats what I use more like T2. I also love them all. Afterimage 08-29-2004, 08:11 AM This game is just like Max Payne with jetpacks. There, I said it. This thread is comedy gold. Biggest twist of the year will be the folks who  T2 hating T:V, just like the T1 vets hated T2 when it came out. I am reserving my opinion. I enjoy the lack of UEs but there still seem to be a ton of  wtf little bugs/oddities in there (I keep disconnecting inbetween map changes). I want to report them but I know if I see them, it must have been reported 1,000 times already. :hrm: Anyway devs, keep up the good work. Thank you for having the brains to not be fazed by the random acts of baseless whining here. | ||
